Chapter 25

Audrey let out a deep sigh when she heard Shane’s car engine outside. Her hand found its way to her chest. She felt better somehow. Finally, she took the first to reclaim her freedom. She didn’t want to continue getting blinded by love while having her neck shackled in the name of marriage. She spent years believing that love was the answer to all problems but it wasn’t the case. Reality worked differently for her and love was only sweet in a fictional world. It took her years to become courageous as she was when facing Shane. Unlike before, Audrey had made up both her heart and mind to live for Asher and herself. Shane may leave a mark in her life but that was all. She could manage alone just fine.

The vibration from her phone got her attention. Audrey cleared her throat before answering the call.
