It was a bleak evening on the 14th of June. The air was cold and caliginous, almost as if it could suspect the misery and gloom that lingered over the Jacobs. It was a sombre affair that evening for all of them.

Each one of them sat down at the kitchen table, scared to meet each other's eyes or even utter a single word. 

Not one of them could believe that their daughter was no longer with them and that they would never see her again. 

Her usual seat at the dining table lay vacant and deserted. Nobody had the confidence to even look at it. 

None of them wanted to truly believe that she was dead.
