Mr meanie

                      CHAPTER 4

                         *AURORA*

The sound of my ringtone awoke me from my short nap. Who could that be? I still very feel dizzy.

"You might as well answer that," Sophie said walking into the room.

"I don't feel like it. Where have you been?"

"C'mon Aurora. You don't expect me to sit in the hospital all day, I went to take a stroll"

"I asked a simple question yet, you answered it so verbosely," I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, whatever." The phone soon started ringing again and I grunted.

"You should answer that,"

"Fuck! fine." I picked up the phone and slide the answer icon.

☎ "Is this Miss Aurora Peyton?"

☎ "Yes, who are you?"

☎ "Brenda Lopez. Mr. Troy's secretary,"

☎ "What does he want?" I asked getting annoyed.

☎ "Mr. Troy called for all the applicants to be in the interview tomorrow." That bastard doesn't know how to keep to his words.

How does he expect me to be at the interview when I can barely walk!

☎ "What? Is he sick or something? Right now I'm currently indisposed. I can't come,"

☎ "But..."

☎ "Tell your boss, we had a deal. How inconsiderate can he be? He put me in this condition, now he wants me to attend a fucking interview. When I am perfectly fine, I'll come to the office," I told her ended the call.

"What interview?"

"You wouldn't believe that douchebag. He wants me to come for an interview. How the hell am I supposed to go there?"

"You did say you wanted a job,"

"I can't believe you are on his side. I am hurt because of him. If he hadn't hurt me, do you think I would think twice before going for that interview?"

"Maybe, you are right"

"Maybe? What is wrong with you Sophie. Don't tell me he has taken your senses with him?'

"Maybe, he has. I'm serious about him. I like him Aurora and I'm gonna make him fall in love with me completely. I'm gonna need your help on that,"

"Count me out,"

"Aurora," she pouted.

"I'm serious Sophie. If you want to chase that douchebag, do it yourself,"

"You're so mean,"

I huffed. "Whatever."

                    *TROY*

"Sir. I already contacted the applicants,"

"Hmm. Great!"

"Well..."

"Say it!"

"Miss Aurora refused to come. She said she's indisposed and you guys made a deal," I slammed my hand on the table and she flinched. That girl got some guts, just watch me make your stay at the office miserable.

"Go get her file. I'll contact her myself"

"OK sir," she walked out of the office and came back a few minutes later.

"Here is the file you asked for," she dropped it on table and I signalled for her to leave.

I studied her file carefully. She does qualify for the job she applied for.

"Why should I even call her anyways? She's the one applying for the job and not me?" I muttered to myself. But we did have a deal.

"It's my company and not hers. I can go back on my words at anytime,"

I finally decided to call her as I picked up the telecom and dialed her number. I placed the receiver on my ears and waited for her to pick the call.

I shouldn't be doing this. I'm definitely gonna make her pay for this.

☎ "Hello. Who is this?" Her voice sounded so sweet on the phone but she's still an asshole anyways.

☎ "Mr. Troy Marshall..."

☎ "Oh, that punk. How can you fucking go back on your words? We had a deal Mr."

She has a lot of guts. What makes her think I will let her work with me with this attitude of hers?

☎ "I did tell you I was gonna give you a job but you must know that I don't accept incompetent workers, hence you have to come for the interview. You should be lucky I took the stress to call you,"

☎ "You're just so heartless. I'm coming for the interview when my leg is healed,"

☎ "I'm afraid it's not your call to make, you're coming to the interview whether you like it or not unless you don't want the job and I don't think you want that. See tomorrow Miss Aurora," I smirked.

☎ "Hey..." I hung up.

"This is just the beginning of your sufferings. More are on the way," I muttered.

***

I walked into the house feeling exhausted. It was already nightfall and I had to work overtime.

I was surprised to see my mother on the couch probably waiting for me. What is she doing here? Probably to talk to me about getting married and having kids.

I told her I'm not ready for that but she really won't listen.

That's mother for you. I love her though, but I guess I have a hard way of showing it.

"Good evening mom,"

"Really Troy? You still work overtime? You should have time for yourself," she sighed.

"Mom, I do have time for myself and I wasn't really expecting you to be here,"

"Is it a crime to visit my son? You don't come visiting so I decided to. Why on earth would you treat your mother that?" She began to shed crocodile tears.

Oh, I forgot to mention, mom is a pretty good actress. I do know she's acting but those tears are what I can't resist and she knows that.

"Mom, I'm sorry. I've been pretty busy lately that's why I couldn't come visiting,"

"I know that you love your work more than your own mother,"

"That's not true mom. I do love you,"

"Then get married and have kids. You're twenty seven now Troy, and you ain't getting any younger." Here she goes again.

"Mom..."

"Please son,"

"Mom, I haven't found the right woman for me. When I'm ready to get married I will let you know,"

"You've been saying that for the past three years now. There is no right woman son, only you can make her right and mold her into what you want,"

"Marriage is a lifetime thing mom. I don't want to jump into it,"

"At least, have kids. Get a lady pregnant and give me a grand child." How could she say that?

"Mom!"

"I'm serious son. I have grown too desperate. If you don't want to get a woman pregnant, you might as well hire a surrogate."

I was surprised with what mom said. I can't believe she would say that.

"Mother. I can't believe you right now"

"Just think about it Troy. If you are hungry, there food on the dinning table. Go get changed and eat I'll be in my room," she turned to leave but stopped on her track.

"One more thing, I heard you hit a girl with your car,"

"And who told you that? I can't believe you put spies in my office," I sighed tiredly.

"You seem to be forgotten something son, that was my husband's company before he willed it to you. I don't need to put a spy there, your workers will definitely tell me about it,"

"Of course, traitors. I'm off to my room." I headed to the direction of my room. I freshened up and came downstairs to have dinner.

The food was delicious as ever, mom's food is the best.

"You see why you should get a wife so you can be enjoying good food everyday,"

"I have a cook and ain't you supposed to be in your room?"

"I came to get a glass of water," she walked to the fridge and brought out a bottle water. I sighed and continued my food.

***

I sat in my room and lit up a cigarette. I inhaled the smoke and puffed it out. Yeah, I do smoke, but not often. It kinda of helps me relax.

"I thought you quit this smoking habit,"

"Old habit die hard and you should knock before entering my room,"

"You should at least close your door if you want some privacy. Well, I came to check on you, thought you would probably be asleep."

That's my mom for you, always treating me like a kid. Gosh, sometimes, it's annoying.

"You must know mom, I am not a kid anymore, but an adult. You don't need to check up on me"

"You're still a kid to me," she pouted.

"Now that you have checked up on me, you might as well leave now,"

"That is no way to treat your mother!" she huffed and walked out of the room in anger.

"Yeah, right," I muttered and puffed out smoke from the cigarette.

                       *AURORA*

"You sure about this. You are barely recovered,"

"It's surprising that you don't support your dream husband now," I rolled my eyes.

"I'm just worried about you,"

"I know, but I gotta attend this interview,"

"With clutches for support and a compressive brace on your knee?"

"What do you want me to do Sophie? You must know that I'm actually going there to make him look mean and indirectly embarrass him in front of his workers,"

"Does he look like someone who will care? Wake up Aurora!"

"I still need this job anyways at least give me a ride to the office,"

"OK. Let's go then,"

***

It wasn't easy getting to the office. My leg hurts so badly, thank God Sophie was able to drive me work and I'm pretty sure, she's gonna be late today.

All thanks to that Mr Meanie, he's so heartless.

I walked into the reception hall holding on to my clutches for support. All eyes were now on me, this is so embarrassing.

"Miss Peyton, are you alright?" the receptionist asked looking concerned. Miss Bianca Santiago is her name I know cause, it's written on her desk.

"Of course, I am not okay. Your boss hit me with his car yesterday and still asked me to come for the interview. He is just so inconsiderate,"

"I'm sorry about that. My boss is like that sometimes, please don't get too upset,"

"It's fine anyways. I'm here already,"

"Oh my God Aurora. What happened to you?" Sandy asked walking closer to me. She was dressed formally. Obviously, she got the job.

"You work here now?"

"Yes. It wasn't easy though, but I'm in the sales department,"

"Great. I'm so happy for you!"

"Thank you Aurora. Now what happened to you?"

"Your boss did this to me with his car," I rolled my eyes.

"Oh. I'm really sorry. You see the boss can be really mean most times,"

"I'm glad you know that"

"Don't you feel any pains?"

"Of course, I do and it's terrible!"

"Have you seen Miss Aurora?" A lady asked Bianca.

"Yes, over there,"

"Miss Peyton, I am Miss Brenda. Mr Troy's secretary,"

"Nice to meet you," I smiled softly. God my leg hurts. I'm getting a headache for this.

"Mr Troy wants you in his office now."
