Prologue

The Hunter clan was gathered at the old folk’s home, minus one member, who had been sent out on an errand.

Whilst the younger children played around in the backyard, the rest were seated by the porch, chatting away and discussing current issues.

Though still keeping an eye on the younger kids, making sure that they did not get into any trouble.

Megan, turned to her grandmother, “Nana, we need to find Dad a companion.”  Her voice loud and clear, drawing everyone’s attention towards her, stopping what they were doing to listen and observe, “It’s been five years since he and mom broke up, but with Alex and I soon leaving the coop, we worry about him being alone.”

“I understand that dear, but what can we do?” Nana Ruby asked, “Your father felt betrayed by your mother, he is not going to want to be tied down again.”

“But…” Megan began.

“Besides, almost everyone here has tried to set him up and it never works out.” Nana reasoned, interrupting the young girl.

“We have to try at least one more time…” Megan argued, “What do you think, Uncle Matt?” Turning this time to her Uncle Matt and Aunt Vanessa.

“So…the truth comes to light, so that is the reason why you gathered us here?” Matt responded, shaking his head, “I was wondering why your father wasn’t around!” Sitting back in his seat casually, his arm draped behind his wife, “You know we have tried countless times to get him to date someone, hoping that whoever we set him up with, would help to get him out of his foul mood, but it never ends well.”

Everyone in the room nodded their heads in agreement, it had not been the first time that one or the other had tried to set Megan’s father on a date.

However, as the years passed, they had all given up in trying, he just was not interested in committing again.

Megan huffed in frustration, “We have to at least try one more time!” She repeated, “Alex and I will soon be going off to college…I don’t want him to be alone.”

Luke, Megan’s other uncle chuckled, “Perhaps your Dad is looking forward to being alone…maybe he has plans on throwing a bachelor party.” He spoke, amusement in his tone, wiggling his eyebrows in a teasing manner.

Sasha, his wife poked him in the ribs hard, “Don’t be such an ass and be so crude!” She hissed out, giving him a glare.

Luke smirked unrepentantly at his wife, giving her a wink, when she rolled her eyes at him.

Only for his smirk to be wiped off, the moment his gaze landed on his mother, who was staring fixedly at him, making him gulp.

Now that was one small woman, who with one look could bring dominant men to their knees, she might be small in stature, but her silent personality was larger than life, she is a mama bear when it came to her family.

Ruby shook her head in frustration, deciding to ignore her son, her youngest sometimes could really be a cad.

Looking at her granddaughter, “What do you suggest we do, not all relationships work out and to find another in this day and age, it’s not going to be easy.” She spoke, “Especially if he isn’t interested in committing or finding someone.”

Ethan, Ruby’s husband agreed, having stayed in the background listening to everyone’s conversation, “You should just let things be…” He quietly spoke, knowing that everyone had their point to make, but in the end it was the person’s decision to decide if they wanted to be helped or guided into a new relationship, you cannot force an issue as sensitive as love onto another, if it’s meant to happen, it will…

Moreover, it was not easy for their kind to find a significant other.

Being a werewolf had its disadvantages, not all relationships worked out and to find another soul mate, was like try to find a needle in a haystack.

“Perhaps this time around, we might just be lucky.” Alex, Megan’s twin spoke up, always siding with his sister, especially on something this important, both of them cared deeply about their father and didn’t want to see him alone.

Megan smiled at her brother, grateful that at least she had somebody in her corner, if the rest of the family wasn’t willing to help them, at least she knew that she could count on him too support her.

For a few minutes, all parties bickered and argued back and forth, to the point that things were heating up.

A loud whistle had them all quiet in seconds, “Right…now that I have your attention.” Vanessa spoke, “If you are serious about this…I might have a solution.” Holding her hands up, to still her niece’s excitement, “But there are no guarantees it will work…this is only a feeling that I have.”

Matt turned to his wife, “And what do you have up your sleeve?” He asked her, very much interested in hearing in what she had to say.

Vanessa gave him a secretive smile, “Well, it is something I have been thinking about for the past two weeks, there is a client of mine that might just get your brother’s attention…” She explained.

“And why do you think that this client will be any different from the rest of the women we have already set him up with…?” Ruby asked her daughter-in-law.

Shrugging her shoulders, “I can’t explain it, but there is just something about this woman, that I think just might break through his barriers.” Vanessa replied.

“Besides, what is it going to hurt, he won’t know we are setting him up, especially if she is coming in next week to pick up her order.” Vanessa explained, “So…it wouldn’t hurt, if he was in the same vicinity when she arrived and perhaps we divert his attention in some way towards her, then we can gauge his reaction and see if he takes the bait…”

Matt grinned, catching on to the way his wife was thinking, giving her a gentle squeeze on her shoulder in encouragement.

Megan and Alex smirked simultaneously, they loved the way their Aunt Vanessa thought and both trusted her judgment when it came to relationships, if what she is saying is a possibility, then they should at least take a chance and try.

Each member of the Hunter family that was present sat back and contemplated Vanessa’s idea, each wondering if perhaps this time they might just be lucky and find someone.
