Chapter 2

Ava could not believe that the day had finally arrived, calling a taxi, she left her son’s apartment and travelled to the dealership which was over two hours away.

Sitting in the back seat, barely taking note of the scenery passing by, she pondered over the events that had led her here to this point in time, making this journey to fetch a uniquely designed vehicle, a one of a kind car, something she would not have considered over a year ago...

Life had not always been so easy for her, about four years previously, out of the blue, her husband of almost twenty years of marriage, up and left her for a younger model, aka…his personal assistant, leaving her and their sons destitute and homeless.

He and his personal hoe, had been selfish and greedy, destructive in so many levels, hurting those around them, without a care in the world.

Her ex had taken everything, leaving her with only the clothes on her back, it had been a bitter and lengthy divorce.

Because he had money and status on his side, she could not prove the infidelity on his part, he had found a way of making himself look like a saint, she sometimes wondered if the judge and lawyers were part of his groupies, hence the reason she was left with nothing, whilst her ex and his whore walked away with everything.

She and her sons were forced to move out of the family home.

They had moved back to her hometown to live with her parents, her ex had completely turned his back against his own sons, especially because the boys had sided with her, rather than with him and why wouldn’t they, they had seen what their dad had done.

She had tried to get back on her feet, but it was not easy, having been a stay at home wife and mother, she had no experience in the job market, luckily a friend of her parents offered her a job, though it was low paying, it was enough to help in some way.

Her sons worked part-time and tried to finish their studies, which she was adamant that they would not give up, they needed a degree to get somewhere in life, a high school diploma would only get them so far…

There were times that things were tough and to the point of desperation, almost penniless, without any future prospects, when things seemed to be reaching breaking point, Ava had gotten lucky in a quick pick lotto game, winning millions.

Though in retrospect she should be grateful that her mother insisted she play the game, her mother had given her some change, saying what could it hurt if she didn’t try occasionally, lightly pushing her to take a chance in the game, Ava had shaken her head and submitted to her mother’s insistence.

And from that day, life had changed for the better, she not only was able to help herself, but she had been able to help both her son’s get back on their feet and finish their studies, also she had been able to help close family who had been there for her and the boys, as well as now being able to splurge on a car that she had always dreamed of one day owning.

Her ex had never gotten wind of her winnings, her family making sure that they kept it all under wraps and her newly appointed lawyers made sure that every little penny was secure and safe, so that should her ex ever find out, he had no way of getting his grubby paws on it.

Now…she was on her way to the dealership, she had looked everywhere across the country for a specific vehicle and finally one day, whilst she was on the internet, she found the perfect one, she looked no further, she had finally found the car that she had always dreamed of one day owning.

After much internal debate and discussion with her kids, she finally decided that she deserved the treat.

She had come upon a web page called Hunter’s Designs, intrigued and interested, she had logged in and what she saw got her hooked, they had a large variety of uniquely designed vehicles, catering to their clients’ needs and tastes.

Therefore, she made contact with one of the sales people and that is where she met a sales woman called Vanessa.

Vanessa had been very friendly, but then again, if you are trying to sell something that expensive, you have to be…

However, Ava had gotten the impression that Vanessa was a genuinely nice person over the course of their acquaintance, they had become good friends during the two weeks that they had talked and communicated, not always discussing business, sometimes it had gone into personal information.

“We are almost there, Ma’am.” The taxi driver spoke, her thoughts interrupted by his deep voice.

Rubbing her hands nervously on her jeans, “Thank you…” She replied, giving him a smile, staring as they reached a rather large building, modern in structure, with steel and glass, the landscape of greenery surrounding the premises, softening the harsh lines of the building.

The vehicle finally came to a stop, Ava thanked the driver, getting out and taking a moment to take in the view and compose herself.

Finally taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, she straightened her shoulders and walked towards the entrance of the large building before her, trying her best to look outwardly confident, even though inside she was trembling with nervous excitement.

Entering the building, Ava scanned the area, searching for Vanessa, she had skyped often enough with the other woman to be able to recognize her in a crowd, a smile forming on her face, the moment her gaze landed on the redheaded woman approaching her.

“Hello Vanessa…” She spoke, her hand outstretched, still smiling.

“Ava, my dear…you are even prettier in person.” Vanessa teased, laughing as she saw the blush forming on Ava’s cheeks, taking her hand and giving it a firm gentle shake, “We finally meet in person.”

“Thank you…” Ava mumbled out, feeling rather embarrassed and slightly flustered, not sure on how to respond to the somewhat light teasing, she had always been complimented by many for her natural looks, though it was the first time that a woman had been direct or so forthcoming, luckily she knew that Vanessa was married, otherwise this teasing would have been rather awkward on both their parts.

“Come…how was your journey, are you excited about today, would you like to see the car first or get the paperwork out of the way first?” Vanessa fired off question after question, too excited with what she was sure was going to be a perfect match for her brother-in-law, gazing down at Ava, more than happy that her instincts were correct, Ava was a sweet shy woman.

“Whoa…woman!” Ava eventually spoke up, laughing at Vanessa’s excitement, “One thing at a time, I just got here and my trip was great, thank you for asking.”

Vanessa laughed, “Sorry…I don’t know who is the most excited about today.” Leading Ava towards her desk, “Let’s take a seat and just get this paperwork sorted out first, would you like something to drink?”

“No thank you…” Ava replied with a smile, both women then proceeding to look over the documents.
