I physically recoiled as my mate forced our link closed. Hades whimpered at the rejection. We had felt her wolf’s joy at hearing my voice, but we had also felt the anger coming from her human side. This was going to be trickier than I had anticipated. We knew very little about the assassin’s guild. They were rumored to reject their mates and live solitary lives, but a mate could only be rejected before the marking. It had given me hope that my mate would accept our bond and we could work out the nasty business of me having been a target. SeleneI was a little surprised as I made my way down the long gravel drive, arriving at a small cottage. I knew it made sense for the leader of the guild to maintain a non-descript home, being flashy would make him easier to find, but I wasn’t quite prepared for how small his home actually was. I parked in front of the tiny house and quickly made my way to the door. I adjusted my top to show a little cleavage and made quick work of stretching seductively before the two guards. I intended to play with them until the next shift change in the hopes they would take me from the room with them. I may have been an exhibitionist, but I drew the line at being indecent in front of children. Their presence didn’t stop me from acting flirtatiously with the men, allowing them to catch the scent of my arousal. I smiled coyly as their eyes darkened when my scent hit their noses. I could tell by the low growl emanating from one man’s chest that at least one of them would be taking me with them when they left the room. After what I estimated to be two hours, there was a knock on the door. It was time for the shift change.

It took time to pick up my mate’s scent of apples and cinnamon because of the need to run along the border to find where she had crossed.
