*** Grayson's POV ***
As we stepped into the clearing, I was touched by the amount of support I had received from my pack. Wolves had travelled far and wide to fight for us, their pride in their pack and respect for me was something many Alphas could only dream of having.
I could sense my mate's shock. I turned to find her frozen in place and scanning the many faces around us. Her caramel brown eyes were alight with wonder as she took in her surroundings, pride came off of her in waves as her eyes settled on my own.

I tried to not scrunch my nose as the smoke from the pyres tickled my nostrils. My eyes stung from the tears that began to trickle from them and my fingers pulled nervously at the hem of my black skirt.Grayson stood a few feet ahead of me, he was emotionless and though he had attempted to keep me out, I could feel his guilt eating away at him.I have been to funerals before, but none could compare to this.Grayson turned to me and took my hand in his. I woke up to the smell of fresh pancakes.On any normal day the delicious scent of my mother's cooking would have me leaping out of bed, today is not one of those normal days.
