Chapter 36: Slipping into Sadness
The kids at the playground surrounded her to the point where the sunlight had difficulty in reaching her. Eleanor raised her head to look at the smirky looks that the kids had as she raised herself from the concrete ground.
Her body was gripped in fear while her timid personality was degrading the situation, affecting her body language.
“Aren’t you the girl without a dad? Wow that must suck huh?” One of the boys questioned with a laugh that triggered the entire group to engage in laughter as well.
Their mockery of her, made Eleanor to lower her head even more with the humiliation getting to her. She could not bare what all was happening with her.
“My m-mom s-said…” Eleanor wanted to speak up to try and make them stop but her voice was not strong enough to pass theirs.
