Perrin

I didn’t sit in the front seat with Charlie very often, but I wanted to give Lo and Ethan the courtesy of pretending that they were alone in the car. I made small talk with him in the front as he drove us to the party--it was all I could do to keep from glancing in the rear-view mirror and seeing Ethan and Lo make eyes at each other.

I was happy for them. I really was. And I didn’t need to convince myself of it either. So I chatted happily with Charlie as we would our way through the east side of town to Toby’s house.

“Will you be needing a ride back, Perrin?” He asked as he drove up the small street. Cars were everywhere, and that wasn’t a good sign, especially if alcohol wasn’t involved.
