Chapter six

Silvana's POV

The brief drive back home was quiet with a weird vibe in the air, even if we are quiet a lot is running through our mind and which would be addressed later.

"As a punishment for your excessive buying you will be carrying all the bags inside with no help" I said to Kath after parking the car in front of our house.

She glared at me which I pretend not to see.

"C'mon let go" I motioned to the absentminded Damien that had no idea what was happening around him, it was heartbreaking and disturbing to see him like that.

I walk into our living room with an arm draped over Damien's shoulder thinking of how to coax him to say what going on his mind , but I was met by a very eerie atmosphere with my father sitting among the pack's elders and Blaze was sitting on his right hand side, my mom of course was nowhere in sight which wasn't surprising because they don't think much of women.

I pretend not to care and walk away with the proudest  look on my face.

Kath came crashing through the door with all the bags falling around her a few minutes later.

"why are you so clumsy?" I asked, infuriating her.

"Don't!"

Damien moved to help her but I stopped him which caused smoke to literally start coming out of her ears.

"she is reaping the fruits of her labour" I answered his unsaid question.

We spent a few hours trying to persuade Damien to say but it wasn't fruitful, Kath was beginning to get pissed off when Mom walked in with a tray of mouth watering food and I couldn't be happier.

"Are you guys busy?" she asked after noticing the unusual atmosphere.

"No we are not!" Kath answered before I could because I was looking at the dark circles under her eyes. My mother has always been beautiful and flawless with her cheerful smile but now even her once sweet voice seems bland.

Since yesterday after that horrible afternoon we haven't  talked and just like Kath said she is not happy.

"Thank you Mom" we said in unison, Kath is used to calling her Mom because she stays here more than her own house.

I find myself standing by the window looking out into the woods, the moon basking the peaceful forest in its milky glow, by its richness one can tell the full moon is near.

A soft knock on the door disrupted my peaceful moment, the door slightly and the person peeped inside.

"I'm here" I called out to her.

Even if we haven't talked since yesterday I can tell she has been wanting to talk to me but she couldn't because of Kath and Damien.

"why are you still up" she asked as she joined me by the window.

"I was waiting for you" I replied as a matter of fact.

We both know we can't sleep tonight without this conversation.

"I heard you are going to a birthday party this weekend" she said softly with her voice quivering slightly.

She is nervous and I can feel it but I decided to ignore and follow her lead.

"Yeah, with Kath and Damien" I replied.

"oh…"

Why don't you say exactly what is on your mind" the silence was becoming uncomfortable and I break the ice even if it's an unpleasant way.
