Chapter twenty-four

He had promised to return the next day, and I had believed him. There was something about him that made me trust him and his every word. He looked like a man of his word.

But my expectations were cut short when didn't return. Not even the day after. When he didn't show up on the fourth day, I lost all hopes of him coming to the hospital again.

I had overstayed at the hospital, and my bills were inflating on a daily basis. Thankfully the doctor and nurses were still tending to me, the pain in my chest was reducing on a gradual process. But I made sure never to touch that part of my chest. Scared it'd hurt if I accidentally touched it.
