Chapter:-66

Alexander almost chocked on his drink. "You?" He asked, giving Ash a disbelieving look.

Ash nodded. "Yes, me," he repeated calmly, his voice even and strong. This wasn't an impulse decision; he had thought this through and had concluded this was the best scenario, the best way to ensure his family was safe. He had studied Alexander intensely when they had been enemies and his belief, based on how the King had acted during the war, was that Alexander wasn't cruel or sadistic like Authority. He wasn't weak by any means but he wasn't cruel and Ash could live with that. It would in fact be a huge improvement from living with his father; it wasn't just that his father was indeed both cruel and sadistic but he also made rules he knew Ash couldn't keep, knowing he would then be severely punished, he would play mind games with him and Team and in general every day had been like walking on eggshells; you never knew what might anger him and nothing was ever good enough.
