He stood at the cafe door patiently waiting for her, she was already 10 minutes late.

Anthony made up his mind that even if she doesn't come, he would understand. Their meeting each other had been a coincidence and whatever spark he felt they both had must have diminished for her.

However, he waited and hoped it wasn't the case. He wanted to know her better, she had been on his mind all day long. Though he didn't have much money to offer, he knew he had the emotional support and care to give, and someday he would have the money too. He hoped to get a good job soon.

Anthony glanced at his watch again, he had been standing here close to 30minutes now and people were beginning to stare and this made him uncomfortable. He began to give up, "she probably wouldn't come, what was I thinking" he admonished himself.

Feeling dejected, he paced the ground with his hands tucked into his trouser pocket. Anthony turned towards the lane leading to the bus stop, hoping to see her. With a sigh, he gave up hope. "There was no need to wait for Elena, she wouldn't come." He concluded

A light tap on his shoulder made him turn, her perfume filled his nostrils. She looked more beautiful than he remembered, she stood tall and graceful. Her lips painted a bright red with a light shade of nude eyeshadow across her eyelid.

"I'm so sorry for coming late," Elena said, she looked tensed and out of breath.

Anthony couldn't be angry at her, just seeing her made his heart leap.

"It's okay, I don't mind. You are here, that's all that matters." He replied smiling, hoping to ease her. Who could be angry with this goddess, he thought.

"Have you been waiting long?" She asked, her eyes huge and beautiful.

Anthony wanted to say no, but he also didn't want to start with a lie. "Don't worry about that." He replied, "Let's go into the cafe."

He pushed the glass door and Elena walked in. She was so lush with a sensuous body that he felt his body react to her.

A waiter led them to an empty seat and they sat facing each other.

Elena smiled shyly, she tried hard to maintain eye contact but failed. He looked breathtaking and her heart pounded in her chest. Her mother had insisted they go out together but she had feigned stomach cramps to avoid going with her when her mother left home after delaying for about 20 minutes, Elena snuck out and drove as fast as she could praying that Anthony hadn't given up on her, thankfully there was no traffic on the road.

Now she sat facing him, she remembered her dream and blushed. Anthony, on the other hand, tried to make simple conversation, he already figured out that she was the shy type so he tried his best to make light conversation with her. When she relaxed more, he complimented her look which earned him a smile.

"Fried rice and chicken," Elena said to the waitress when she came to their table

"Same with me," Anthony said, glancing at the waitress before focusing his attention back on Elena.

"So how have you been Elena."

"Great. And you?"

"Good"

There was a momentary silence before Anthony spoke again.

"What are your plans, are you going to practice law?" Anthony asked, it felt safer to talk about their career at least for now.

"Not really, I would be going into fashion and design."

"Then why did you study to be a lawyer if you didn't plan to practice."

Elena laughed a little before answering "My dad insisted and I couldn't say no."

Anthony was surprised by this revelation, they were so different. He couldn't imagine himself going against what he believed in. He wondered what made Elena agree to her father's decision or was it that she was easily controlled by her parents.

Anthony hoped the latter wasn't the case, he liked independent and strong-willed ladies who weren't afraid to say  no or go for what they wanted

"Well, at least you can now pursue your passion."

"Yeah, I intend to start as soon as possible," Elena replied.

The waiter brought their food to the table and left.

"This looks delicious."

"Yes, it does."

"Let's dig in. Shall we?" Anthony smiled at Elena, who smiled back.

They both made small conversation with Anthony doing most of the talking. He wasn't much of a talkative but he felt so comfortable with Elena and words flowed out of his mouth.

Once their table was cleared and they had rested for a while.

Anthony glanced towards the beach and said the first thought that popped up in his head.

"Do you mind if we take a quick stroll? Oh!, I forgot you are on heels."

"I have a pair of sneakers in my car. I could change." Elena asserted

"Let's go then." Anthony felt happy, he wasn't ready to let her go. He stood up followed by Elena and they both walked to where her car was packed.

***********

Side by side they walked towards the beach and when they got to the shoreline they stopped. Anthony reached out and held Elena's hands before looking at her, his heart throbbed in his chest.

He wanted so much to kiss her, her hair was scattered over her face from the force of the wind blowing it, her cheeks were flushed and her lips looked so succulent.

"You look so beautiful Elena." His voice shook a little

"Thank you, you look good too," Elena replied. His huge frame stood over her, not intimidating but more protective, she had never seen a man look so strong and vulnerable at the same time.

They stood facing each other, lost in their thoughts. Anthony stared at her lips and watched as her mouth parted, he lifted her head towards his and bent over till their lips met and locked.

The kiss was slow and hot, she tasted like sweet orange, probably from the fact she drank Fanta during lunch. His hands gently caressed the nape of her neck.

When their lips parted Anthony placed his hands on her cheeks and looked at her his eyes burned with passion.

Drawing her closer to him, she rested her head on his chest while he wrapped his hands around her. They both stayed in each other's embrace, heart beating against one another, the wind blowing around them, the echoes of the waves making sweet melodies with the birds. It felt magical. At that moment they were both consumed by their growing love for one another.
