I stare blankly at him. Whoever he is.He glances back at the road, paying attention to where he was driving for a second. But I couldn't help looking at him, letting the words process in my brain."Jasper is dead," I say clearly, more to myself then him. I wanted to hear the words so I could understand them, believe them. He shakes his head slowly. "I was dead, but not anymore."Out of everything that has happened today-with my boyfriend trying to kill me and my father disappearing-this just passes through me with ease. Perhaps I am just numb to everything right now with all the stress..."Many years ago, my father cursed me," he tells me, his words pronounced as he tries to get me to understand. "He turned me into a Phantom Wolf out of jealously. My own father did not want me to become Alpha, and as a way to not arise suspicion, he told everyone I had committed suicide, when really I was sent to be a Phantom with many others in the Pack."I just sat their, patiently listening."I a
The Love Pack is one of the colder Pack's. In fact, the sky is significantly darker here, suggesting it might likely snow. I huddle closer into my seat as we begin our drive into the Pack. "I wish you told me to bring something warmer with me," I note, gazing at the window. The houses here are exquisite. The entire place looks like something out of a fairytale. Lawns and gardens are kept neatly trimmed from behind white picket fences, with the horizontal slides of the exterior painted to contrast the eaves. People even walk the quintessential sidewalks, bundled up in soft fur coats and gloves. Everything here seems so cliche...Domestic."I'm sure we can find you something," Jasper tells me, glancing over at me while he drives. The speed limit here is tame, to match the pace everyone seems to be living at."This town is beautiful," I note, watching the people and places we pass by. "Their Alpha must be an amazing person."To my surprise, Jasper chuckles, and when I cast a glance at
~TheaThe house this girl lives in is nice. Much nicer than mine back at home. It dwarfs the other houses in the neighbourhood, standing tall against the sinking sun. Her wealth is obvious, I can't help but think, as Jasper lets me in through her front gate first. I watch as Jasper knocks on the door, and we wait. My backpack, full of clothes useless for this winter like weather is slung over my shoulder, making me feel more and more like a homeless person. I suppose that is what I am right now.The door swings open after I few moments of shivering on my part. Apparently the cold doesn't affect Jasper too drastically...Lucky, because this snow is doing things to me.The girl who answers strikes me straight away. Mainly, it is her stark contrast to a Love Pack member, like her ancestors never stepped a single foot out of the Pack to even be in the presence of someone foreign. Her eyes are like a glacier, although it is almost like calling the water in a swimming pool blue. Perhaps at
~TheaThe speed of shrugging on the jacket I bought earlier today with Jasper's money was legendary.Of course I didn't jump from the window like he did, due to the fact that I happen to be missing a certain power that would have allowed me to basically evaporate my body mass, before completely rearranging it again once I was on the ground. If I did try, I can be assured that I would most likely plummet face first into the snow, and break my nose or something.Instead I jog downstairs, trying to keep my steps light, but quick so I wouldn't wake Aria, or lose Jasper. Just as I had pulled my last shoe over my foot, I swung the door open and emerged into the night. After only a few hours, the snow was already thick on the ground, coating it in untouched ice crystals still fresh from the grey clouds above. Bare trees held the burden of the snow, that lay innocently upon the branches, stirred only by the crisp breeze that hit every so often. This Pack is beautiful, but skin shivering cold
~TheaPerhaps I would have been mad by the fact that Jasper blatantly refused to tell me anything about what I had just witnessed, had I not been so tried. The moment the bed was in my line of sight, I forgot Jasper would be sleeping next to me. The last thing I remember, was face planting into the softest of pillows. When I awoke the next morning, Jasper was dead asleep beside me. His torso was magnificently bare, and admittedly, I took a few moments to admire the smoothness of the perfectly sculpted muscles I am mockingly itching to touch with my bare fingers. The sun is rising, rays going to work on the thickly frosted windows, the remnants dripping down the window in the form of liquid lit by the encroaching daylight. Gentle oranges and subtle pinks dance across Jasper's face. His eyelashes brushing against his cheeks, his lips partly open. The bed sheet twists around his limbs, a contrast to his sun kissed skin. An Alpha, in a vulnerable position. I slip out of bed, wishing
~TheaJust seeing him sent an entire wall of emotion at me. His back was turned to me, but I knew it was him without a single doubt. The man I thought would once be my mate, but who actually wanted to sacrifice me. "We need to go," Jasper says quickly, seeing Luca at the same time as I did.He grabbed my hand, dragging me toward Aria's house, which was luckily right there. My feet slugged through the snow, my burning limbs fighting against the drag. Jasper had no problem disrupting the snow around us, but it was mildly heartbreaking to see the beautifully resting fluff get tainted by our footprints.I kept turning back as we jogged across Aria's lawn, making sure Luca and his men hadn't turned around to see us. Because if he sees us...Everything would have been for nothing.Don't let him find me. He can't find me. If he finds me, I am dead."How does he know we came to the Love Pack?" I question frantically, once Jasper had closed the door behind us, but not before checking Luca was
~Thea Stunned, I sat, frozen to the seat.Jasper clambers out the car, slamming the door behind him. Instantly, the darkness of the freshly settled night swallows him whole, leaving me alone, only illuminated by the car light above my head. The weight on the car roof is obvious, by the slight intents made on both the right and left side. Something big is above me, and I don't even want to consider what it might be.Trying my best to catch a glimpse of where Jasper had gone, I try smother the spike of fear that bubbles in my stomach. Instead of being brave, I lean over and lock every car door, promising I would only let Jasper in.A few moments passed us by. Each one was spent with my hands on my lap, fiddling with the empty chip back. Whatever was on the roof is now gone. I can tell because the car doesn't shake and creak like it had done before. Had Jasper taken care of it? Suddenly something hit the window right by my face. I wasn't looking at it, because I was too busy seeing if
~TheaMy eyes followed the road that was almost endless, stretching miles straight, carving an obvious line through the thickness of trees. This place is an entire village, a settlement. Average sized and styled homes stand close to each other, placed to conveniently face the road, that seems to lead into nowhere. It is all so...Domestic, normal. Something I haven't seen in what seems like a while."What is this place? I question. My bearings are way off. These trees aren't familiar, the sky is clouded over, and a soft fog seems to be dancing around the edges of the road. Something tells me this isn't on the map, or at least in any Pack."Some people call it a safe haven. A home between the Desire Pack, and the Love Pack," Jasper tells me, as I rub my eyes tiredly. My sleep was decent, and by the looks of it, the day is just starting again. Although, I have to admit that I could really do with another nap at least. "Why here?" I ask him. "Who lives here?"Jasper turns the car on aga
