Chapter 3: Something

When mang Bert and I got back to the Office, I immediately went to Miss Michelle's office room to tell her what the Chairman was telling her.

"Is that so?" I nodded to Miss Michelle. I don’t know if I was just amused when I saw a slight drawn smile on miss Michelle’s lips.

"I mean, Andrew, he's your Boss tomorrow." Miss Michelle was staring at me intently, maybe she was catching my reaction. I restrained myself from showing any emotion. I don’t want him to think I’m affected, that I’ll still be affected.

"Okay." I sparingly said that I was accompanied by a nod.

"Have you eat your lunch?" She suddenly changed the subject.

"Yes, I'm already done eating." I replied. Earlier, when I got out of the van, mang Bert told me to have lunch first, because it was already past twelve when we arrived at the office.

"Good." She sat up straight. She also took out her cellphone. I don’t know what she looked at there.

"Would you mind if I ask you some personal questions, Sydney?" I was stunned. I can't understand her. We've only been together for a few hours here, it's like how much she wants to know me. I don't want to think that she is insecure with me because she is no less insecure than me. She has everything. She's pretty. She's rich. Let's add that her husband is the son of the richest family in the whole country.

"S-sure. What is it?" I asked calmly.

"How are you doing?" She raised an eyebrow to ask me.

"I'm doing great. I am happy with my life right now." I smiled in response.

"Is that so?" She adjusted her seat then she put her two hands on the table.

"Are you married right now?" My eyes widened at her question. Does she do it because she knows her husband and I have a past? Tsk!

"No." I shook.

"R-really... excuse me." She suddenly stood up and moved slightly away from me when her phone suddenly rang.

I picked up my cellphone to text Grace if how's Sunny was.

Me: Hi Grace, how's Sunny? Have you eaten? I waited just a few minutes and Grace responded immediately.

Grace: Sunny is fine, ma'am. She is asleep now. Yes, we ate.

I smiled at Grace's reply. My daughter is really the only one who can relieve my stress and when I'm feeling tired. Fortunately, she came into my life.

After the breaktime I also went back to arranging the paperwork that had to be signed by the CEO of Paradise Corp.

According to Miss Michelle, Engineer Claveria was the one to signed all of these. Because it's my first day at work, that's what I handled as secretary.

Next I picked up was the schedule for tomorrow, but since there was only a welcome party tomorrow so there weren’t many appointments for Miss Michelle and Engineer Claveria. It wasn’t that hard and I can say my first day at Paradise Corporation was just right.

Time also passes quickly. I didn't realize it was five in the afternoon, it was only thirthy minutes and I was out.

"When you're done, you can go home." Miss Michelle said whil busy with her laptop. I was surprised because all I knew was that my out schedule was at 5:30.

"Just come early tomorrow. We need to prepare for Andrew's return to the office because he's also been missing for almost three months." I nodded at her.

Earlier after she answered the call she formally introduced me my Boss, who was none other than Andrew ... my ex-boyfriend. She even asks me if it is okay with me. Because I'm just an employee looking for a job, who am I to complain? Like I said before, I’m doing all of this for my daughter. She is the only one who matters to me now, so I have no right to affect my past any more.

If we were meant to cross again, why not? Besides, I already moved on. I no longer have anger or any other intense emotions lurking in my heart. I already accepted what happened to me. So maybe it's time for me to face my past again.

"Okay Miss Michelle, take care." I said with a smile before I made my way out.

"Thank you. You take care also," She smiled in response.

"Mang Bert thank you for driving me home." I told mang Bert when I got out of the van. In fact, it's embarrassing because I'm the only one he's taken the farthest right now.

"It's nothing Miss Sydney."

"Take care!" I'll chase after mang Bert. He only responded to me with a smile.

"Hi baby!" I immediately opened the door when I entered the house. I caught her busy, I didn’t know if she was writing or drawing.

"Momma!" She quickly left what she was doing just to greet me with a hug and a kiss.

"Sweetes as always, my baby's hugs and kisses. Look, momma's tiredness already gone!" I laughed and said that I also favored her to prove to her that I was not tired.

"Wah momma stop it! Momma!" When we finished scratching, she immediately showed me her fist.

"Momma look, I got three stars!" She proudly said.

"Wow. My baby is really great. What did you do?" I'm glad asking her.

"Teacher told us to write our name ... like this momma!" She showed me her paper which was indeed full of her name. Because she's still kinder, her letter isn't that straight, but she really wrote her name properly and completely.

"Ma'am, please juice first, you might be thirsty."

"Thank you, Grace." I took a pineapple juice and drank it.

"How's your work momma?" I smiled at my daughter's question. Earlier before I left she says, 'Goodluck' to me, then now she's asking if 'how's my work' what a sweet daughter of mine.

"It's fine bahy, I enjoyed working with them especially with my Boss." I'm referring to Miss Michelle who seemed kind to me before.

"Really? That's great momma. You should keep it up." She said in a sweet tone. I pinched her nose because I was happy with her again.

"All right baby, keep up what you're doing earlier. Momma will just dress up."

"Okay momma." She first gave me a kiss on the cheek before continuing what she was doing, which is writing her name.

This is what I am afraid for, I am afraid that I might lose what I am used to...my life. I hope nothing changes even if Andrew and I meet again.

I hope so...
