Chapter 04 - A new beginning

Chapter 04 - A new beginning

"They want you... to change your genre."

These few words were enough for any writer to feel frightened in the world.

She felt as if someone threw a stone and broke her glass-type career in a few moments.

Upon hearing it, tears started forming in her eyes. Her cheeks turned all red out of shame.

"So I failed again? How many times am I going to disappoint them? How many failures do I have to see in my life?" she thought.

She lowered my head, not letting anyone notice those painful tears.

"Cong Rong, you're a great writer, and that's why we gave you one more chance. But I think the fantasy genre is not for you."

Her entire world seemed to shatter in those words. Fantasy was her life, but she had to accept her fate. She took a deep breath, letting all her anxiety out. Suddenly, a smile formed on her lips when she recalled her dad's words he once said to her.

"To be a great novelist, you have to first come out of your comfort zone and try new stuff."

No matter how many failures she had to face in life, she could never stop writing. It was her entire dream that she chased in her life. Without a try, she couldn't accept her defeat.

With her trembled chin, she lifted her head and asked. "What genre should I try, Director Xia?"

A smile spread all over his face as he replied. "With your writing style, you can do better in the romance genre."

"What? Romance?"

...............................................

With a poker face, Shaoqing immediately went towards his cabin, not even glancing at his workers.

He was furious as his plan failed again.

Pushing the door harshly, he entered his cabin when his gaze fell on Xiaomi, his manager, and best friend.

"How was the deal with Mr. Song? Did he agree?"

While clenching his jaw, Shaoqing loosed his tie and threw himself on the couch. "I don't even get a chance to talk to him. A girl smashed the cake all over me, and I have to leave the party in the middle."

With his furrowed eyebrows, he took a seat beside him. "A girl? Song Mido?"

He pressed his temple while refusing to him. "No. She was someone else. I don't even know her."

"Calm down, Shaoqing. You have a meeting. Don't forget that."

"Hmm! Let me take a rest first."

"Okay! I'll go and inform Ms. Zhao till then."

........................................

Sitting on her desk, Ming was doing her work when her gaze fell on Xiaomi. Quickly shutting off her window screen, she stood while bowing to him. "Manager, how can I help you?"

"Well, we're having a meeting in 20 minutes. Please, bring the documents with you."

Narrowing her eyes, she flashed a nervous smile. "Which documents, Manager?"

"The red file that I gave you to finish. Don't tell me you forgot?"

Just then, she replied. "Not at all. The file is ready. I'll meet you in the meeting hall."

Humming, he just walked away when she shifted her gaze back to the desk and started looking for that file.

Even after opening every drawer on her desk, she still couldn't find the file that made her anxious.

"Where is the file?" She nervously looked around while her hands ran through her hair.

Even after searching so much, there was no trace of that file.

Then she remembered that she had left that file at home.

Glancing at the clock, she gulped as the time was slipping through her hands.

In such a state, she only had one choice. Her hands ran around the desk in search of her phone.

Finally, she found her phone as she quickly dialed Cong Rong's number.

...........................................

Holding a juice can in her hands, she gulped it down as an exhausted sigh escaped her lips.

She gazed down while scoffing. "Huh? Romance genre? How can they pick romance for me?"

*Flashback*

"What genre should I try, Director Xia?"

A smile spread all over his face as he replied. "With your writing style, you can do better in the romance genre."

"What? Romance?"

Quickly, she stood up and argued. "Director Xia, you also know I can't write in this genre. It needs feelings, and I have no experience with it."

"Hmm! That's why I have advice for you. You should fall in love first."

Upon hearing it, her face turned pale. "Huh? Love?"

"Yes, when you'll feel, it will be easy for you to write."

"But, I never have any relationship."

"That's why I'm giving you a month. Go, fall in love, and experience this feeling. After one month, you have to come and submit your plot."

"Director Xia, Romance is... too hard for me. Director Xia--"

"No way, Ms. Rong. No excuses. It's your last chance. If you're giving up, then sorry, I can't save you too."

*Flashback ends*

Her lips turned downturned when she put her head against the table.

"UGH! Why is my life so hard to live? First, the genre changed. Now, romance? UGH..."

Her cheeks turned bulged with rage popping in her heart. She didn't know what to do.

When her phone buzzed aloud, Ming's name popped on the screen.

Glancing at it, she rested herself back, being confused. "Ming? Why is she calling me this time?"

Picking up the call, she kept it near her ears when she heard a shout from another side, making her ear hurt.

"Aish! This girl..."

Rong: What happened, Ming? Why are you shouting?

Ming: Rong, my savior, where are you this time?

Rong: I'm at a mart near our home. Why are you asking?

Pausing for a while, she held her breath before shouting aloud.

Ming: PLEASE HELP ME OUT!
