CHAPTER 2: Job Hunting

XYNETH'S POV

I am already a jobless woman since my contract at Paradise Restaurant ended. Well, I was the one who said that the contract would only last for 4 months, and now I'm regretting those words. I had wanted to work there for a long time to meet that man again, but unfortunately, my contract ended.

I sigh. I'm wearing a formal dress, and I was really looking forward to applying as a secretary at the Valdez Company. But due to my bad luck today, I wasn't accepted.

I call Rosalie, and she immediately answers after one ring. "Yes?"

"Rosalie, help," I say in a sad tone as I hold my shoulder bag, walking down the streets alone.

"What?! What happened? Did someone rob you and try to do something bad?" she asks continuously in a horrified tone.

I can't help but chuckle. "No, it's not that."

Rosalie lets out a loud sigh of relief. "So, what do you mean by help?"

"Help is the action of helping someone to do something; making it easier for someone to do something by offering one's services or resources," I explain to her what 'help' means.

"Damn you. I know what help means! What I mean is, why do you need help?" she says loudly, making me chuckle.

"Oh. Well, I was just going to ask if you know someone who's hiring and offers a good salary for hard work," I ask.

Rosalie replies, "Sorry, but I don't know of anyone who's hiring today. I'm sorry I can't help you."

"Nah, it's okay. Anyway, I'm going to hang up and start applying for another job. See you, and I'll miss you," I say.

"I'm going to miss you too. Bye," Rosalie says before hanging up the call.

I'm about to head home when a poster suddenly comes straight to my face. I annoyedly remove the poster from my face. I'm about to crumple it, but I stop midway as soon as I see the word 'hiring.'

My eyes widen as I read the poster. It says they're hiring a babysitter and looking for someone who can work diligently and patiently. The contract would be for five years, and the babysitter would live at the employer's house for the duration of the contract. If interested, I should go to MoneyisEverything Street and find the house of the Emperials.

I'm about to toss the poster away since I'm not good at handling kids, but then I see the monthly salary mentioned. My eyes widen, and I almost have a dollar sign written on my face.

"Damn. The salary is good. This is nice. I'm going to babysit their son/daughter," I say to myself.

I don't hesitate to apply for the babysitting position. Five years is nothing; time will always pass by. Following the directions on G****e Maps, I find MoneyisEverything Street.

When I finally arrive, I don't rely on the map anymore since there is no Emperial House listed. So I decide to find the Emperial House no matter what.

After a few hours, I finally see the Emperial House. How do I know it's the Emperial House? Well, there's a big poster on top of the mansion that says "Emperial." So, I conclude that it must be the Emperial House mentioned in the poster.

I compose myself and relax as I approach the house. My hands are shaking as I press the doorbell.

Within a few seconds, a gorgeous maid opens the gate and gestures for me to come in. I silently follow her. The maid appears to be in her twenties; I can tell from her appearance and her baby face.

"Follow me," the maid says emotionlessly, making me feel nervous.

As she said, I follow her silently, but I can't help but be awed by the house of a rich person. I let my eyes roam over the surroundings and the view, which has a calming effect on the mind. They also have a variety of different flowers that I'm not familiar with.

It takes us at least 15 minutes to reach the door of the Emperial House.

Before I can enter, I hear the maid say, "Good luck and do your best."

I can't help but smile at her encouragement. It's just a simple phrase, but it helps calm my nerves. As soon as I step inside, I see a man's back, and he seems familiar to me. He's wearing a black suit and sits elegantly in a chair.

I clear my throat before speaking. "Good morning, Sir. I'm Xyneth Lava Asuncion, here to apply as a babysitter. My past jobs might not be related to taking care of children, but I'll do my best to take good care of whomever I'm assigned to."

The man answers in a cold tone, still looking at a painting framed on the wall. "How can you be so sure that you won't mess up in taking care of my son?"

I'm still looking at the floor, bowing my head before I speak. "I'm not 100% certain that I won't make mistakes in taking care of your son, but I'm 101% sure that I will do everything I can to take good care of him. So please be kind and patient with him."

"Are you doing this for the salary?" he asks, and I answer truthfully, "Partly, Sir."

The man chuckles as he swivels the chair to turn and face me. A sly smile appears on his lips as soon as he sees me hiding my face by looking down.

"Lift up your face," he commands.

I lift my face, and as soon as I see his face, I gasp. My eyes widen in shock, and I'm speechless.

A sly smile is plastered on his kissable lips. "It seems that we are destined, honey.”
