Chapter 4

“Kylie, get your ass down, finally!” I heard my brother yelling.

I opened my eyes and started thinking about what I did to deserve this life. But my thoughts were interrupted by the sound of door opening. I saw my dad wearing his usual suit, but this one was grey.

My dad was a surgeon. He had saved a lot of lives and he had never had any failed operations. I’m really proud of my dad. He helps people and that’s amazing. He isn’t at home very often, but he is trying to be with us as much as he can. He always helps me and Lincoln when we have problems but we try not to disturb him a lot, because he is always tired after 3 or even more operations.

“Kylie, we have been calling you for half an hour. You will be late for school!” my dad said looking around my room to see a mess.

“And when you come home, this needs to be sorted out!” he said showing me that he is talking about my room.

Yeah, I don’t like tidying my room, but who does, right?

“I’m coming,” I stated getting up from my bed.

My dad nodded and went back to the kitchen. I looked around my closet and saw a white T-shirt and black jeans. I decided to wear it, because I really did not care. I looked at the mirror and saw my reflection, obviously. I came closer to see properly my face. It was awful, yeah you could say I was not a confident girl with a high self-esteem. I thought it didn’t even exist, but still. I didn’t like my appearance at all. I have an oval face, which should have probably looked good, but mine didn’t. I have dark straight hair. They always look like a nest of some birds. My eyes, they are hazel, it’s a very beautiful colour, but my ones don’t look good. Should I continue? My body? It’s normal, I guess. I am not fat, but I’m not slim as well. But sometimes I think I’m rather fat then normal. I took my bag with books and went to the kitchen.

I saw some pancakes with some maple syrup on it. I really love it, my dad knew it, that’s why he has always cooked it.

“Has dad already gone?” I asked Lincoln, coming closer to him with a plate of pancakes in my hands.

“Yep,” he answered, swallowing some pancakes.

I looked at him and hit his head.

“Ouch! What was that for?” he asked with a shock.

“For yelling earlier!” I said and sat next to him.

I noticed him texting someone, so I asked:

“Who are you texting?”

 “Raf,” he answered and laughed.

Looks like it was a really funny joke. I heard my phone beeping, so I took it and while eating, I started reading my new texts.

In group SHUT UP BITCHES

Yeah, we called our group SHUT UP BITCHES. It’s funny, you know.

Mia: Are you at school already?

Jeremy: I am, but you aren’t. I am waiting for you, idiots.

Mia: Who did you call idiots?

Jeremy: Obviously not myself.

Mia: You should have called yourself, though.

Me: Hey, losers. Stop texting so much. It’s annoying. I will be soon at school. See you!

Jeremy: Nobody asked your permission.

Me: Huss, if you don’t stop being annoying, I will find and kill you.

Jeremy: Now I need new panties. Thanks, Ky!

Me: lol

Mia: Why am I even friends with you?

Me: Because we are cool.

Mia: Right...

They continued arguing, but I didn’t want to be late. We finished eating and Lincoln and I sat in the car. While Lincoln was driving, I was thinking as always. I saw places which were very familiar to me. It was a little park. It was always half empty. But I was there often with my mom. I liked that it was quiet and calm there. I could talk with mom, play with her and just be in peace. We had a lot of talks right there, under the big tree. But I will tell you about it a bit later. Now it was completely empty and dumped. Nobody was there. I opened the window and slightly felt the wind hitting my face, making me close my eyes often. I really felt something break inside me. Then I saw some bushes in shape of dragons. I remembered me and Lincoln playing, as I was the right one with a big horn on its head. Linc was the left one with a big spiky tail. It was so funny. We were like 4 probably. I looked at Lincoln, expecting him to say something, but I noticed him smiling a little, which made it clear that he also remembered. They were the days which made my heart brighten up every time I thought about them. Sometimes I just want to go back to these days and probably be there my whole life. But life goes on and it can’t stop on some moments, no matter how amazing they were....

We finally came to school. Lincoln parked his car in the parking lot and we went closer to the building. I saw Mia and Jeremy sitting on the stairs, so I sat near them. Lincoln went somewhere, I assume he went to meet Dylan and Raf.

“What’s up?” Jeremy took me out of my thoughts.

A lot of people do it.

“As always. And you guys?” I asked.

“I’m great! Today we are playing against our worst enemies Red Tigers!” Jeremy stated with excitement.

Our school’s  football team is one of the best teams in Los Angeles. We are Raged Lions. My brother and Jeremy are the best in the team. Linc is a captain. Red Tigers are the ones who are at the same level as us, but today’s game would show us who was better.

“Yeah, you should win, or I don’t know how I will be able to look at this disgusting Jordan’s face!” Mia said.

We nodded. Jordan is a captain of Red Tigers. He is really a disgusting person. He was always saying that they were the best in Los Angeles but we knew the truth of course.

“When we win, I would gladly show him who is the boss!” Jeremy said as he imagined this sweet scene with a grin on his face.

“Let’s go to the lessons!” I said as I looked at the time, which showed that there was a minute left until the lesson started.

“I hope Raf won’t have the same lessons as me today!” I prayed quietly.

When I came to the classroom, I sat on the third desk of the left row. I didn’t see Raf, thank God. But then I saw Dylan looking at me as he came closer to my seat. I didn’t look at him, as I was busy praying so that he wouldn’t sit with me. He went past my desk and sat at the next desk which was right beside me. I suddenly felt a warm sigh on my neck.

“Hey!” Dylan said quietly.

“Hey,” I answered.

Then he came closer to my ear.

“Could you give me a pen, please!” He screamed very loudly.

Ouch! My ear was hurting. I put my hand against my ear.

“Are you insane?” I said, turning around to face him.

He was laughing very hard and it annoyed me. I rolled my eyes and he finally stopped laughing but he was smiling.

“No, really. Could you give me a pen?”

“Let me think...No!” I said faking my thoughts.

“Please! I forgot my one!” he begged me.

I took my pencil case and didn’t see anything.

 “What?!” I exclaimed.

I looked at Dylan but he wasn’t there anymore. I glanced around and saw him having everything in his hands. I ran to him, but he dashed out. I followed him. I noticed him giving my things to Raf. I decided to come back to the classroom as Raf noticed me and smirked. I knew that it was senseless to ask him to give me back my things. And I didn’t want to have a detention. I was sure that they wanted me to get it, but I wasn’t stupid. I would easily buy new pens.

The first lesson was over. I went to find Jeremy and Mia. I guess Jeremy was on the field, training a little. Mia was with cheerleading team to talk about their moves. So I was alone. I was playing PUBG and sitting on the floor near the lockers.

“Oh, come on! It’s not fair!”– I screamed as someone killed me.

I wanted to continue playing but I saw Dylan and Raf sitting near me. Raf had my things in his hand waving near my face.

“You can have it. I know it’s beautiful, but don’t you think that flowers and butterflies are a little bit girly?” I asked not pulling my sight from my phone.

Dylan laughed and Raf didn’t like it.

“Do you want to get it?” he queried.

“No, I have a bunch of them at home. I’m not greedy. You can keep them,” I said smiling.

When Raf understood that I wasn’t paying any attention on him, he took my phone out of my hands.

“Give my phone back!” I screamed pointing out my index finger.

“Are you greedy? You have a bunch of them at home, I can keep it, right?” he asked laughing.

I ran towards him and when I was close to him but not close enough to catch him, I jumped on his back.

“Give me my phone, or I will strangle you!” I threatened putting my hands around his neck.

Dylan wasn’t around so he put it in his pocket. He started laughing.

“Why are you laughing?” I asked.

“Because I don’t have your phone. Dylan has it, loser!” he said, showing me his phone.

“I will tell Linc about it!” I said.

“Ohhh, he will help me to annoy his little sister. I know it for sure!” he said.

He had his phone in his hands and he was laughing so I took his phone from his hands and said:

“I will keep yours, no problem!”

“Don’t you dare! Give me my phone!” he said.

 I laughed.

 “No!” I exclaimed.

“Dylan!” Raf screamed.

He came and saw me having Raf’s phone. His grin erased from his face.

 “Give her phone,” Raf commanded.

Dylan gave me my phone but  I didn’t give him Raf’s one back.

 “What?!” Raf screamed.

“Give me my pens and pencil box!” I said and grinned.

He was angry and it was funny. He gave me my things and then I gave Raf’s phone back.

“Loser!” I said and went to the next lesson.

It was the end of the school now. Finally I can go home. I went out of the school and saw Linc, Jeremy, Raf and Dylan sitting on the field. Linc and Jeremy will have a lot of training now. Thank God I am not in their shoes. I approached them and said:

 “When is the game, guys?”

Raf was looking at me with anger and Dylan was smiling.

“At six P.M. You should come, sis!” Linc said.

“I think I will,” I said.

“What are you two doing here?” I asked referring to Raf and Dylan.

“We are in the team as well, sweetheart,” Raf said getting up and plastering a big smirk on his face.

 I rolled my eyes.

“Then I guess, there are some reasons why I shouldn’t come here!” I said smiling.

“Will you ever stop arguing?” Linc asked.

 “No!” we screamed in unison.

“I gotta go. Good luck, guys. Break the leg, Raf. I mean literally!” I said and waved a hand.
