Chapter 5 Will

"Vasudha di, when did you come and why didn't anybody tell me that you are coming?" Priya said while giving her a bone-crushing hug.

"I came here today itself and as for not confiding in you, well I wanted to surprise you ."

"Vasudhda, Priya come for dinner, after that you both can chat as much as you want." Ma's voice came from the kitchen itself.

They all sat at the table and started chit-chatting.

 “Ma, where is Puneet?”

“He has gone to his friend’s house for a night stay, as they are working on a  group project which they have to submit tomorrow”.Hema(Priya’s mother)told them.

The dinner ended in silence. Both the sisters went to their respective rooms. Rain was still pouring but now it has turned to a drizzle. Priya went to her balcony. She loved the calmness of the night. A soft breeze was blowing. The silence of the night was calming her nerves. It is at this time she remembers the conversation that took place at the office.

Viren sir doesn't want to get married but the boss wants him to get married. I understand the boss's view. He is getting old and is ill so he wants his only son to be settled and nothing wrong with it. But what past does he have that has affected him so much that he doesn't want to get married?

With these thoughts, she drifts to sleep.

It was late Sunday morning Priya was lying lazily in her bedroom when she heard a commotion. She immediately went down and was surprised to see her brother-in-law Veer standing there. Veer came forward and side-hugged her. "Hey, sleepyhead, you are awake." He ruffled her hair lovingly.

"Jijaji, please I'm not a baby and not a sleepy head. Today is Sunday. I was just lying lazily."

"Ok, I believe you. Have this first." He feeds a rasgulla in her mouth.

   "What is this for?"

"You are going to be masi  (maternal aunt)"

"Congratulations".Why has nobody told me about it till now?" She pouted at both of them.

" It was my idea to tell everyone when we are together,"  Vasudha said, caressing her little sister's cheek.

"Let's celebrate." Priya squealed in excitement.

" Party is on me. " Chuckled Veer.

"I would be a mama(maternal uncle)," Puneet said while coming inside.

It was decided that they all will go out for dinner. The evening came and everyone was so excited. Priya wore an off-shoulder white top paired with black ripped jeans and her favorite denim jacket. Vasudha prefers traditional attire. She wore a peach-colored saree. Both of them put on minimal makeup, just eyeliner and baby pink lipstick with lipgloss on it.

They went to a cozy restaurant that was not far from their home. It was a small restaurant that was aesthetically decorated. As soon as they were seated a server came and took their orders. They ordered dal fry, paneer lababdar, and malai kofta, accompanied by naan and roti. Dinner went well. They chit-chatted merrily and enjoyed the dinner. For dessert, they had gulab jamun. Their Sunday went well. On returning, Veer told everyone that he would spend the night at their place as he had to take Vasudha to her appointment and the doctor’s clinic was near their house.

The next morning Priya bid goodbye to her sis and her bro in law as they won't return after Vasudha’s checkup. She went to her office and her routine was going as usual. She jumped on her chair on hearing an unusual sound, it was then she realized that it was her intercom.

  “Hey, Priya. ”

“Hey, Rani. What's up? you called. ”

“Mr. Viraj has come to meet the boss. Should I send him up? He doesn't have an appointment"

"Ok, I will check with the boss and let you know. Meanwhile, guide him to the waiting area. He is our legal advisor.”

"Boss Mr. Viraj has come, he has not scheduled this meeting, what should I tell him"

"He has arrived, bring him to me. I have called him."

"Good afternoon sir, the boss is expecting you. Please come this way." Priya guided Viraj to her boss's cabin.

"Good afternoon Priya. Is Viren in his office?" Viraj asked Priya on his way to the office.

"No sir, he has a meeting outside, during lunch hours. He will be back in an hour and as per his schedule he doesn't have any meetings after that."

"That's great, please tell him I will meet him after this meeting."

  "Noted sir"

She then knocked on the door and let Viraj in.

"Hello uncle, you have called me urgently. Is there some legal problem in the company?"

"No Viraj, it is something personal. I want to register my will."

"Will, do you want to make a will? But why, I mean Viren is your only son and whatever is yours is legally Viren's, so why are you making a will."

"It is all because of your hard-headed friend who is still dwelling in his past and doesn't want to move. If only someone can put some sense in his mind. All of you are either settled or planning to do so but he is not even ready to listen. My only wish is to see him settled." Rai Bahadur spoke in a disheartening voice.

"I will try to put some sense in his mind. Tell me what you want in the will. I can draft it and then I will get it registered"

After some time Priya brought two cups of coffee accompanied by some cookies and muffins.

Rai Bahadur started instructing the points that he wanted in his will.

"That's all. Now draft it and then get it to enroll for my consent."

"I will get it done as soon as possible"

"Try to talk to your friend"

"I will. Bye "

When he was heading towards Priya's cubicle to check whether Viren had reached or not. He hear the elevator door opening and the person he saw was the person he was willing to meet.

"Hey, buddy". He called the person.

The person twirled and was astonished to see Viraj. He comes near him and hugs him in a manly hug.

" Hey, were you waiting for me?

."No and yes. Your dad called me. " Viraj explained.

"Come to my cabin we can talk there."

"Priya, please get us some coffee"

"Priya, not for me. Already I had it with uncle"

"Come let's move."

"Is there any legal problem in the company that I don't know about?" Viren gave a questioning look to Viraj.

"No. Viren confess to me frankly. Why are you not getting married."

"All the girls are gold diggers. Moreover, I don't want any commitment. I don't want someone clinging to me all the time. Interfering in my life."

"Firstly don't dwell on your past and not all girls are gold diggers. Look at Ankita. You appreciate her so much. As for interfering, it is not like that, if  you will fall in love once you will have someone next to you."

"Leave it, let out to me, why my dad summoned you"

"Maybe this would be an eye-opener. Your dad wants to make a will. Here are the points, see for yourself."

After reading the points, his brows furrowed and there was a crease on his forehead as he was in deep thought. Thinking for a while, he said,  "what am I supposed to do?"

"Listen, buddy, I can buy you some time a month or two by delaying the procedure, but you have to find a solution fast. "

"Thanks for the info. I will let you know"

"Anytime. I am taking my leave now.    "Bye"

With that Viraj left and went.
