                           Saving Erin

                            Chapter 5

                 Jake's point of view

I find Madog to see if he's found anything out about our little mystery lady. He's sat hunched over his laptop. I put my hand on his shoulder as I ask.

"Any luck?"

"Yes, Erin's father is Peter Daniels."

He says as I reply in shock.

"The Peter Daniels as in the big-time lawyer, Peter Daniels?."

"Yep, that's the one, and Erin's been missing for three weeks; she was kidnapped on her way to work, her father has a reward out for her, what do you want me to do, shall I make contact with him?"

Madog ask as I get lost in my thoughts before I reply

"No, not until we speak to Erin. That has to be her call, and we need to know who she's running from. I can imagine her father has a lot of enemies."

Madog nods in understanding before he says.

"Okay, boss, it looks as though the storms are easing off as well."

He says as he looks outside. I turn my head to the window as I say.

"Yes, and if the snows easing off, it makes us more accessible up here, we need to look at getting back to the bunker as soon as we can move Erin, and we need to be prepared, especially now we know she's Peter Daniels daughter it could be anyone who's after her, he's put some big guns inside that's for sure."

I Sigh as I think to myself, this is bigger than I first thought. Madog senses my worries as he stands up.

"Ye ain't nobody taking her from us, that's for sure, Boss!"

I nod my head, knowing that Madog will always have my back as well as the rest of the team,  we're a tight unit, and we work well together.

It's mid-morning now. I'm going through the weapons when Laila finds me, she says with a cheeky smile on her face.

"Hey, boss, your little lady's awake."

Yeah, she's onto me. She knows I like Erin, and I turn my head towards her as I ask.

"When can we move her, Laila?  I'll feel better if we could get her to the safety of the bunker."

Laila replies.

"Whenever you're ready, Boss,  I'll make sure she's dosed up for the journey. I'll ride with you so I can keep an eye on her, and the boys can take the other jeep."

"Okay, let's get the team together."

I reply as I make my way to the other room,  Madog is still on the laptop while Tank is looking out the window. I clear my voice as I say.

"Okay, team, we're moving out today; take all essentials and leave everything else behind. I want us off this mountain as fast as we can. I'll send another team up to pick everything up. We need to move quickly while the weather's good. I don't want to take the chance of it turning again. Madog, Tank, you take the rear and make sure no ones on our tail, Lailas with me. I need her to keep an eye on Erin."

Tank nods his head as he says.

"yes, boss."

Madog closes his laptop as he stands up.

"let's fucking roll."

He says with a grin. I make my way to Erin's room knocking on the door quietly; her soft voice calls out.

"Come in."

I walk in, and Erin's sitting on the bed dressed in one of my shirts and a pair of Lailas pants. My god, she's beautiful even with all her bruises and her swollen face; I smile as I say.

"Hey, you look better."

She smiles back a half-smiles that doesn't reach her eyes, and It breaks my heart to see her suffering so much; she whispers back

"Yeah, thanks to you and your team Jake, you saved my life."

I smile at her before I ask.

"Are you ready to get moving?"

Her voice raises slightly as she begins to panic.

"Where do I go? What if they come after me again?"

I sit on the bed as I tentatively reach for her hand, grateful that she doesn't pull away, as I reply.

"You're staying with me, sweetheart and nobody's gonna touch you again, I promise."

I reach over and touch her cheek, surprised as she leans into my touch. I don't think I'll ever be able to let her go. I'm drawn to this woman. I don't understand it, nor can I explain it. Nobody has ever made me feel like this, and I pull her into my arms, holding her as I whisper.

"I heard your Dad's looking for you, Erin."

I watch her as she breaks down in my arms; as I gently rub her back as I patiently wait for her sobs to stop, she whispers.

"My Daddy's alive? He told me he was dead."

"Who did Erin?."

I ask while still holding her in my arms, and she shudders as she whispers his name.

"Roy Kenner"

fuck we need to get moving now! This is way bigger than I thought….

Roy fucking Kenner the biggest drug Barron stateside. We need to get down off this mountain now.

Erin whispers.

"He told me he killed him; he told me he was dead."

I gently sit her back down on the bed, kissing the top of her head as I say.

"Your father is fine, Erin, and he's been looking for you; you're safe now; I promise you Roy Kenner will never touch you again."

She nods her head as I turn to make my way to the others shouting out.

"Guys, we move out now. We can't wait any longer; we need to get to the bunker."

Tank senses my fears as he asks

"What's up, Boss?"

I clench my fists, my anger rising as I say.

"Roy Kenner, that's what up. Kenner has been holding Erin hostage for the last three weeks."

Tanks eyes go wide as he says.

"Let's move."

I shout out...

"You boys lookout while we get Erin in the jeep."

I make my way back to Erin, looking at her as I ask.

"Are you ready to get off this mountain?"

She nods her head, and I scoop her up in my arms, trying to be gentle as she hisses with the pain.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart, we need to move quickly."

I pick her up as I carry her to the jeep Tank and Madog are on either side of us, each holding a large gun. Once we're in the jeep, they close the doors and jump in their own jeep, following closely behind us. It only takes a matter of minutes before we're making our way down the mountain. I hear Laila ask Erin.

"You okay, Erin?"

Erin replies with a hiss.

"Mmmmm, it hurts."

The track down the mountain is uneven, and I can only imagine the pain she must be in as the jeep bounces from side to side Laila says.

"let's top that line-up, Erin. You don't have to be a hard ass, huni. We already know how tough you are."

I watch through the mirror as she tops the morphine up. Within a couple of minutes, Erin falls asleep.

I'm so grateful I have Laila with me. It's so hard seeing Erin in so much pain while trying to drive carefully as not to hurt her anymore when all I really want to do is put my foot down and get us to safety. Laila catches my eye in the mirror.

"You OK swiftly?"

"I will be when we get her safety, fuck man Roy Kenner we're going to need some backup on this one."

I reply as Tank's voice comes over the radio.

"We got company Swifty."

Fuck! That's all I need. My hands clench the steering wheel as I reply.

"Can you hold them off while we disappear?"

 "Bring it on."

Madog says with a laugh.

I put my foot down, speeding up as a Madog slows down his jeep holding them behind us on the track. I call the bunker to let them know we're coming in and to arrange some backup. Looking through the mirror, I can't see anyone following us as we floor it back to the safety of the bunker.

While thankfully, My beautiful Angel sleeps through the whole thing.
