4. The Alpha hates me!

Mia:

I watched as ripples formed on the water with the stone I'd tossed into it settling under the lake. The water was so clear that I could see the bottom. Under the bright moonlight which illuminated the forest ground, the lake shone.

Staring at the calm water brought a sense of calm to me. It was my nightly ritual to visit the lake before I went to bed.

I stood by the water and kept staring into it as the night breeze blew past, making me pull my robe tightly against me to avoid catching a cold.

Out of nowhere, I heard a low growl. Quickly, I turned my head in the direction of the sound. My eyes landed on the silhouette of a wolf behind one of the trees a few feet away from me.

On seeing it, my heartbeat hitched up. Gradually, I took a step away from the lake, ready to bolt at any minute if it attempted to come towards me.

My heart was thudding so hard that I could hear it in my ears.

Now you're wondering why I'm scared of wolves when I live among werewolves?

At the young age of five, I witnessed the brutal death of my parents who were killed by werewolves. The memories still haunted my dreams every night.

While I continued staring at the shadow of the wolf, it slowly came into view from behind the tree. My first instincts were to run for my life but the sight before me rooted my legs to the spot.

Though the wolf was standing a distance away from me, I noticed how huge it was but that wasn't what caught my attention. It's fur did.

Under the moonlight, it shone brightly. I was mesmerized by its beauty but my trance was broken as soon as it took more steps forward and began running towards me.

Incited by my fright, I whizzed around towards the direction that led to the packhouse and made a mad dash to safety, running as fast as my legs could carry me.

I didn't wait to see if the wolf was after me. I kept on running for my life while praying that I got to the packhouse in one piece.

Out of nowhere, strong muscled arms wrapped around my waist from behind, lifting me from the ground.

A scream escaped my lips but one of the arms moved from my waist and clamped around my mouth to keep me shut. My thudding heartbeat increased erratically while I struggled to get free of the unknown man's hold by throwing my arms and legs wildly but that didn't stop him.

His grip on me could only be likened to an iron grip.

My struggles came to an end when the familiar voice whispered into my ear.

"Mia, I won't hurt you."

The words were spoken so softly that they instantly calmed me. My racing heart gradually calmed down as my breathing became even.

Even without seeing him, I knew it was Giovanni.

When he noticed I was relaxed, he dropped me to the ground but his arm never left my waist. The one that he'd placed over my mouth gradually eased off and returned to my waist.

For a moment, I tried to regain my breath until I felt a hard length pressed against my bum. A gasp fled my lips, my heartbeat picking up speed.

He chose that moment to spin me around, releasing his hold on me. Quickly, I docked my head down to avoid looking into his eyes but that was a glorious mistake on my part.

In an attempt to not see his soulless eyes, my eyes drifted down and landed on his engorged manhood. As soon as I'd seen it, a gasp flew out of my lips, my eyes snapping up to meet his.

His arms caught my waist and pulled me tightly into him till every part of our bodies were molded against each other. Another gasp of surprise escaped my lips. I could feel his hard length pressing into my stomach, well past my navel.

His dark eyes stared into mine intensely while my breathing increased to pants.

All I could say was;

"Y-you were t-the w-wolf?" My voice came out smaller than I'd meant.

Instead of a response, he kept staring into my eyes. His hard stare sent cold shivers down my spine.

"Do you like what you see?" That was his first question when he finally spoke.

I gulped, averting my eyes from his. The image of his hard dick popped into my head making my cheeks heat up. At that moment, I was thankful that it was night and he couldn't see my embarrassment.

My happiness was short-lived when his finger lifted my chin so I was left at the mercy of his soulless gaze.

One look and it was as if he could see into my soul. The thoughts sent shivers down my spine.

"I don't like repeating myself, Mia."

The way he said my name in his heavy Italian accent made butterflies explode in my stomach. With the way he was staring at me, I couldn't control my body reactions. I had to constantly remind myself that he was the alpha and we didn't belong in the same social class nor status.

"I'll have to punish you for ignoring me then" he rasped.

"No.". I blurted out instantly.

"You don't like what you see?" His brows drew together while he continued staring into my eyes.

"I-I m-mean...y-yes…"

"Yes what Mia?"

"I…" my cheeks heated up again. "I-I like…" I tried averting my gaze but his hand held on tightly to my chin. "I like what I see," I murmured in a small voice.

A lot more than you should. My subconscious asserted.

"Well," he paused, his eyes roaming my entire body. Though I was cladded in a nightdress and a robe, I felt naked under his intense gaze. "I wish I could say the same for you." He completed.

My heart fell at his comment.

Pulling away from me, he turned on his heels and headed into the woods. I stood still on the spot, tossing his words around in my head. I should have been happy he didn't find me attractive as I found him but instead, a certain sadness descended upon me.

He shouldn't be into me in the first place. He's an alpha and I'm nothing but a slave and a human. I consoled myself but that did nothing to erase the hurt.

Trying my best to put the encounter behind me, I turned and began walking towards the packhouse.

As I drew nearer, I could still hear the loud music from the party. It was a good thing that my room was at the main house. That way, my sleep wouldn't be disturbed by the loud noise.

I walked towards the back door that led to the main house. I opened it, about to slip in when I felt fur rubbing softly against my hand.

I jumped from fright. Looking beside me, I saw the same huge wolf I'd seen at the lake standing beside me, his soft black eyes staring into mine. It had a sad expression. For a moment, my fear was momentarily forgotten, replaced by the need to console the wolf.

Slowly, I patted his head with my hand, threading my fingers through his silver fur that shone under the moonlight. He was big and beautiful, reminding me of Giovanni.

Then it hit me. The wolf I was petting might be Giovanni. Quickly, I took my hand away from it making it whine at the loss.

It rubbed against my arm, wanting me to touch it but knowing it might be the alpha, I didn't bother to touch it.

"Goodnight big boy," I whispered to It before slipping into the house.
