Chapter 6 (Gay?)

"Good afternoon Sir," Jack and Alice said it together. Hearing that, she came to her senses. The old man is the owner of this company, William Wills. He looked to have crossed 50 but despite his age he looked fit and perfectly healthy.

'I wonder if Stefen and Mr. William are somehow connected. They do have the same surname.' Jasmine mused.

"Good afternoon Sir," she said it with a smile.

"Good afternoon Sir," Stefen's voice followed hers.

‘Iguess they aren't related with the way they are behaving.’ She cleared her doubts herself.

"Good afternoon young souls," Mr. William said with a very sweet smile.

‘At least the boss doesn't look as arrogant as the manager.’ Jasmine sighed.

"Have a good day sir," they all said in unison and exited the elevator.

"You guys too have a good day. Do not stress too much." With that Mr. William entered the elevator.

"He seems to be such a nice person. So powerful and wealthy yet so down to Earth," Jasmine said looking at the closed elevator door.

"He is indeed one of a kind," Stefen said it with a genuine smile in his perfect face. That was the time she noticed his dimples. ‘Cute ones just like him, wait what?’

"Okay ladies, time to separate and go back to work, Sayonara" Jack left putting his hand around Stefen's shoulder dragging him with him.

Before Stefen left he glanced back at Jasmine and smiled again. She had to admit that if he wasn't so cute she'd find his constant smiles boring and psychotic till now. That guy loved to smile a lot.

"Let's go back too," Alice said and started walking.

The rest of the day went well. Since it was her first day she wasn't given many tasks to do. But she knew that everyday wouldn't be Sunday for her.

Finally it was 16:00; the time that had a special place in every employees' prayer. They just wished when that bloody clock would strike 16:00 and they could all leave the office.

"Let's go," Alice came and stood in front of her desk.

"You go on, I'll be down in a minute," she told her and started cleaning her table.

She was out of her department and was moving towards the elevator. But luck had a serious issue with her. The elevator door closed just as she was about to reach.

She stood still for a while. She was debating whether she should take the stairs or to wait for the elevator to come; and that wait could mean minutes.

"I guess we've to take the stairs yet again."

‘I know that voice very well.’ She turned around to see him but then her head hit hard on something.

"Ouch," she said in pain and touched her forehead.

"Are you okay?” Stefen said keeping the wooden box down and touching and examining her forehead.

"Yeah I'm good. You need not worry," she said getting herself together.

"Okay."

With that he again carried the box and signed towards the stairs.

"Doesn't this company have other elevators?" she said trying to start up a conversation.

"It does, but the other 4 elevators are still under construction. Mr. William recently shifted his company in this city. So this building still has some parts left to be fully constructed. He made sure to finish constructing the important parts of the building first like the offices and canteen and washrooms... Why are you asking that? Don't you like walking with me?" he said faking a pain in his voice and face.

"No, no absolutely not. I like in fact love walking with-," she paused realizing what she had uttered in hurry and immediately regretted it. "I'm sorry that's not what I meant. I mean I love- no I like walking with you... I mean I don't have any problem walking with anyone- no I do have problem with walking with others not just you... ARG, what am I saying? I'll lose my mind at this rate," she said all in one go.

"Chill, I was just kidding. I get what you are trying to say." He said and brushed her hair with his fingers.

‘This guy is surely on a mission to kill my heart.’Jasmine heart beat pounded loud.

“You seem to know everything about this company,” she said in an attempt to change the conversation.

“I work here, of course I know.”

"So is there any reason behind me not getting pizza today?" Jasmine asked in a sarcastic way.

"Yes," Stefen said.

"Yes?" Jasmine was not expecting that answer from him.

"The cooks here are instructed to cook only limited food for a day. Yesterday's excess food should not be served today and no food should go to waste," Stefen explained.

It all made good sense to Jasmine.

"Why? Didn't you like the pizza I gave you today?" Stefen smirked. It was evident that he was pulling her leg.

"I ain't answering that," Jasmine said knowing Stefen's intention. "By the way, what's in that box?" Jasmine pointed towards the wooden box that Stefen was carrying.

"This?... Just some documents that I'm taking home to study in detail."

"You're taking your OFFICE work to your HOME? Seriously, you love your job that much? I mean I do love my job as well but I wouldn't prefer taking it home and doing an extra work. A person needs to live a life outside of these papers as well."

"I get what you're saying but I have to do this. It's important for my family." Stefen said looking at her direction.

"So you're doing overtime to help your family. That's sweet and caring of you," ‘I guess his family is having some kind of financial problem that's making him do overtime.’

"Where do you live?" He asked changing the topic.

"Oh few streets down after taking a right and then left turn. It's about an hour walk from here.” She said as if she had memorized it and she had to too as she was new to the surrounding.

"Oh then it's on the way to my apartment. I'll drop you if you have no problem with it."

‘Seriously? Why would I have any problem.’ "Are you sure?" She thought one but spoke completely different.

"Absolutely."

They reached the ground floor where Jack and Alice were waiting for them. They were standing close to each other yet both were silent. They all headed towards the main door and exited.

"So Jazz, where do you live. We can go together," Alice asked Jasmine.

"Or I can drop you," Jack said smirking.

"You both need not worry for her. I'm dropping her. Jazz wait here, I'll get my car," Stefen said leaving the two shocked.

"Did I hear it right? Stefen is dropping a girl home in his own car? This must be a dream," Jack said closing his eyes in satisfaction.

"Why are you saying that? Many people drop their colleague home, what's so new in this?" Jasmine said trying to reason with him.

"Well other people do that Jazzy girl, not Stefen. He's someone who doesn't like to be too close to girls. I doubt if he's even interested in girls. Ever heard of a word 'gay'?" Jack emphasized the last word leaving Jazz speechless.

‘Gay?’ Her brain repeated the word for her since her mouth didn't dare to open.
