CHAPTER 3

It was 6 am in the morning. Blake was busy sipping his coffee as he walked towards the garden when he heard a giggling voice from behind him, and there he saw Claire and Evangeline outside, seating on the seat bank, putting their heads down the flowers, smelling and loving the fragrance coming through the flowers.

“They look like best friends,’’ he whispered and he couldn’t take off of his eyes on them. No matter how much he tried to look away he ended up stealing gazes at them until it no longer a quick look but a long stare.

He saw Claire comb Evangeline’s hair and freaked out the moment he remembered about her tattoo, so he immediately jumped on his feet towards them but he was too late, Claire was already braiding her hair and he was halfway near them.

Claire's eyes looked at him in horror when she saw him running in a hurry towards them, his face was red, gasping as if he has just seen a ghost.

“Sir, Blake… what’s the matter, did something happen?’’ Claire asked as he lifted her eyes at his face. Blake gasped another air and awkwardly looked at them, even Evangeline looked at her, confused.

He cleared his throat as he gulped, “Hmmm…It’s just…’’ his voice was cracked and couldn’t let out words due to panic, especially that he saw Claire’s hand was still on her hair. He was worried that Claire would see her tattoo and began to get frightened.

“Sir, are you okay?’’ Claire repeated when suddenly the flower in Evangeline’s hands fell on the ground and she immediately picked it, Blake took that chance and got surprised when she saw her tattoo was not shining as it was before, it was looked like a normal tattoo.

His eyes were still on Evangeline’s, he started to get more confused. “Why isn’t shining this time...’’

“Sir?’’ Claire repeated, feeling worried at his boss’ facial expression, she knew something was bothering him.

He glanced at Claire and seriously said, “I’m fine, can you leave me alone with her,’’ he requested and Claire nodded her head as he left them alone and went inside the house.

Blake immediately went near Evangeline and sat beside her. He was about to talk when she stretched her hands and gave him the flower.

He was silent in seconds but later on, he smiled, “You want me to have this?’’ he asked and Evangeline’s nodded her head immediately and for the first time, he saw her smiled at him.

He chuckled and got the flower from her hands, “So, you can actually understand my words, isn’t it?’’ he asked and she nodded her head again, made him comfortable with her.

He stared at her green eyes and got distracted, he wasn’t sure if it really did shine or it was only his imagination, and then he remembered the tattoo. “How could I forget it that instant,’’ he whispered and about to hold her shoulders and turned her around but he stopped and put down his hands before he could touch her.

He took a deep breath and examined her face for a while, “You can understand me, right?’’ he asked and she nodded her head and smiled at him.

Blake sighed in relief, “Okay, I don’t want to be rude and just turn you around, can you show your back to me?’’ he said nicely to her, she then smiled and turned around.

He stood up as he looked at her tattoo, “What the hell is really going on with your tattoo,’’ he murmured in surprise as she told her that she could face him, already.  The tattoo was shining again when it was not like it a few minutes ago. He wasn’t convinced that it was shining again and asked her to face her back again to him, and as expected…it was still shining… he stepped back out of frustration then notice that the light was gone… His eyebrows met as he massaged his forehead. He couldn’t think clearly, so he went near her just to notice that it shone again.

“What the heck.’’ he cursed and sipped his coffee… Then it took him seconds before he realized what might be happening, he stepped back and forth.

“It’s shining when I’m near her,’’ he whispered.

“You can turn around now,’’ he said to her and their eyes locked.

He examined her face first before asking, “Do you know that your tattoo is shining when I’m near you?’’ he asked and she shook his head.

“Are you sure?’’ he was making sure she was telling the truth and he was convinced when she nodded her head and saw that her eyes were certainly telling him the truth.

Blake kept staring at her, couldn’t believe what he just found out, he was curious about her tattoo, the fact that he somehow felt she was connected to the girl, but the main question was what and why? He tried to think if he saw her before from the past hundred years or more but he could still remember everything and he knew he never once met her. “Then why?’’ he whispered and glanced at her again, she was smiling at him like a little kid staring at their parents.

“We’re not safe around people,” he whispered. “I must go.’’ he added and headed inside the house and gathered all his maids and the others…

“What! Are gone insane?’’ Pocco and Shiera yelled in monotone when they found out that he eliminated all of his maids and others inside his house.

“What are you up to, Blake, what suddenly made you fired all your maids and the others, even your driver?’’ Pocco’s expression was hard to explain, he was confused, curious and he even thought that he’s friend was totally lose his brain cells.

Blake massaged his forehead in frustration. He didn’t know how did they find out what he did. He never wanted to do it as well, the maids even thought they had done something wrong by his sudden decisions. But in order to protect what’s with him and the woman, he needed to keep them away before they notice her tattoo, it was easy for him to stay back when they were around her, but who could tell, accidents might happen even inside the house, it’s better to take good care of the woman alone by him, although he hated it, he doesn’t like babysitting, but it was the best he got.

Pocco’s mind was aching believing that his thoughts about his friend having an interest in that girl were indeed the fact. He couldn’t restrain himself from thinking how far was Blake went to desire of having her all by himself with no one else around.

“This is harassment, a poor innocent woman who couldn’t tell to anyone what a man is doing to her…’’ he whispered but remember Blake’s senses were extraordinary.

His jaws clenched and slapped Pocco’s back wanting to just throw him away.

“What are you murmuring there. No one is harassing somebody… Pocco I think you should go clean your mind, I can give you one drum of bleach if you want to make that green brain of yours turned to white as clouds…’’ he whispered to him before leaving them to run away to their questions, and Shiera couldn’t help herself but laugh at Pocco’s red face and ears. He was left like a statue, trying to realize what just happened, how did he overhear his words when it was too impossible to be heard.
