When I went upstairs, Dez was looking pretty sharp, “Going out?” I questioned him.
“Maybe,” he shrugged, “Nathan suggested I come out with him tonight, is that where you’re going?”
“Mmm-hmm, Savannah is picking me up right away, but you should come, it’ll do you good,” I smiled at him.
“Well, if I come it’ll be a bit later, but have fun, be careful,” he said as he nodded out the front window to Savannah’s vehicle pulling up.
“Love ya!” I shouted as I closed the door behind me and made my way to the vehicle, climbing into the back with Lilly, thankfully the guys were all going separately later.
“What is your plan exactly Brianna,” Dez’s tone was already hurting my feelings, “to just lead every guy on in town and then what? You don’t think it’s going to have repercussions?”I sat there stunned as he fired more questions at me, “You think I want to up and move every six months when your life doesn’t turn out as planned and you don’t want to deal with the people you’ve hurt anymore? You think I enjoy watching my baby sister flaunt herself out there to anyone who shows her attention? It’s like you think this is a game, it’s not. You’re fucking around with people’s feelings Brianna.”All of his words flew around in my head with shock and anger, I felt like I was vibrating inside as tears streamed down my face on their own accord. Did Nathan get up
When I got in, he had already picked up coffees and drove us to a place by the path we ran on, leading me to a little area that branched off and had a few benches with a tiny swing set.“I thought we could talk here, a little more private than a busy coffee shop, fewer interruptions,” he sounded worried that I was going to object to the idea.“It’s perfect,” I smiled, “and thanks for this,” I motioned to my coffee, “it’s just how I like it.”“Look,” he started and was slightly fidgeting with his hand around his cup, “I wanted to apologize for last night, I uh, clearly wasn’t all that sober and that’s not the impression I wanted to give you.”“Oh,” I sai
“There is no situation, Connor is… Connor,” I laughed, “that day you sent him over, do you know where he took me?”“Who knows,” she scoffed, “it’s Connor.”“A rage room,” I paused and nodded at her when she looked at me in disbelief, “but it was actually super fun. I’m sure he just assumed it would be interesting to see what I would do, he made me sign the waiver without knowing what I was signing, BUT it helped get a bunch of anger and stuff out that I was holding onto from being with my ex.”“Please promise me you will never sign anything else Connor asks you to sign blindly,” she scolded me.
“Well now I know not to pick a fight with you,” Nathan joked as we settled outside.“You still wanna talk?” I tried to redirect the conversation so we could get it over with.“Yea,” he sat up a bit straighter, “I wanted to apologize, I know I haven’t been very accepting of you telling me not to pursue things between us. It doesn’t change how I feel about wishing there was something, but I’ll try and back off unless you tell me otherwise.”“I think we get along great Nathan, and it’s not that I’m not attracted to you, I just don’t think it’s a good idea when you and Dez are in business together. Maybe nothing happens now, in a year, in two, but if it went sour – that’s g
Xander: Hey, hope your week is going great. Given any more thought to letting me take you out of town for a few days?Me to Xander: I’m gonna be honest, I’m a little confused after you left the pub last weekend the way you did. Thanks by the way, for covering our tab, but it wasn’t necessary. His message surprised me, and I wasn’t sure how Dez was going to react still, plus I didn’t want to be the reason he missed Christmas things with his family who all lived around him. He was so hot and cold, and after everything with Connor, I just wasn’t sure about anything anymore.I woke up to Dez making pancakes, the smell was unmistakable and mouth watering as it carried down into my room. I tore myself from bed faster than normal, and when I got upstairs he pull
“Hey,” I tried to hide the raspiness in my voice from crying when I answered Xander's call.“Hey, how are you?” His voice was so deep and smooth that my insides were already melting.“I’m good, thanks, and you?”“Better now,” he paused, “I hope you weren’t upset that I sent you flowers.”“You sent…” Dez was dead, “hey can you hang on just a second?” I muted it the second he said yes and stormed into the other room, I know Dez didn’t approve, and this was something he would do.“Seriously?” I was leaning forwards with a hand on my hip as Dez was suddenly walking up the stairs.
I went inside and tried to calm down before I called Savannah. I sent her some pics of the floral arrangement and gushed with her a bit over it before talking about random things to get my mind off all the Dez drama this morning. She told me about a few houses her and Mike had found, asked my opinion on some layout issues, but overall she hadn’t loved any of the houses, so she was still in the air. I offered to come over on Christmas Eve to help her with anything she needed for the party, but she just wanted people to show up and enjoy it. I asked her if Connor was coming, and she thought he would, but she was surprised by his reactions when I told her about my run-in with him.If Dez came home that night, I didn’t hear him, and he was gone before I woke up. This was the first time he was actively avoiding me and it hurt, all I wanted wa
The pain in my chest was mounting, it felt like the night we found out that dad died like my chest stopped moving on its own, trying to convince itself that if it didn’t breathe, it couldn’t feel pain, but when I took the next breath, all the pain that had mounted would flood in and spread through my whole body.I could hear a clicking sound behind me, right before a small voice called out for me to wait. When I turned around, Lilly was trying to catch up to me, and when she got close she wrapped a coat around me and helped me walk, asking me where the house was but we didn’t have far to go. She helped me inside and down to my room, putting a bottle of water by the bed as she sat on the edge of it and stroked the hair out of my face before she ran her hands up and down my back lightly.
