Chapter 15

When I got in, he had already picked up coffees and drove us to a place by the path we ran on, leading me to a little area that branched off and had a few benches with a tiny swing set. 

“I thought we could talk here, a little more private than a busy coffee shop, fewer interruptions,” he sounded worried that I was going to object to the idea. 

“It’s perfect,” I smiled, “and thanks for this,” I motioned to my coffee, “it’s just how I like it.”

“Look,” he started and was slightly fidgeting with his hand around his cup, “I wanted to apologize for last night, I uh, clearly wasn’t all that sober and that’s not the impression I wanted to give you.”

“Oh,” I sai
