Serena

I glanced around to ensure that no one was nearby to witness me taking my father's horse without permission. Surprisingly, there was no one in sight, not even my annoying security guard, Killian.

I couldn't help but regret revealing my childhood infatuation with Killian to my father, especially since he had saved my life when I was just seven years old. However, the handsome seventeen-year-old boy I had once been obsessed with had transformed into an incredibly attractive individual who was now the center of attention for many girls. Unfortunately, he only followed me around because it was his duty, not because he had any genuine interest in me. Despite being a princess, he constantly reminded me of that fact. When I was younger, I used to cry because of how awful it felt, but as I grew older, I began to despise him. I pleaded with my father countless times to reconsider his decision, but he believed that I had become spoiled and needed a guard now more than ever.

Without wasting any time, I hurried over to where the horse, named Phoenix, was kept. With a smirk on my face, I reached out and touched the horse.

"I'm sorry, father..." I whispered under my breath. I convinced myself that I was only borrowing Phoenix for a short while. With that thought in mind, I grabbed the reins and led the horse away from the house, hoping to go unnoticed as I mounted Phoenix. Once I felt that I had distanced myself enough, I urged Phoenix to pick up speed, galloping away into the distance…

Horseback riding has always been my escape, the one activity that truly makes me feel free. As the wind playfully tousled my hair, I couldn't help but giggle with delight. The gentle breeze brushed against my skin, leaving a soothing sensation in its wake.

Living most of my life on my father's estate has often made me feel like a prisoner, much like those who were locked away by my father after betraying him. So, whenever an opportunity presents itself for me to break free, I seize it without hesitation.

Fortunately, being the daughter of my father, the Alpha of the Crimson Blood Pack, has its advantages. My name is Serena Kopper, and I firmly believe that my father would never allow me to end up in prison, as he adores me dearly, despite my stubborn nature.

For the majority of my life, I could only catch glimpses of what they called the sun when I managed to escape to our mansion for a brief respite. There was a particular spot on our property where I loved to bask in the warm rays of sunlight.

However, my father was adamant about keeping me within the confines of our property. When I was just seven years old, I found myself dangerously lost in the wilderness, coming perilously close to death. It was then that Killian, my father's loyal security guard, came to my rescue. That was the moment I first fell in love with him. Given my father's numerous adversaries, particularly rival packs, he is determined to keep me safe from harm. I understand his concerns, but as a strong-willed member of the family, I refuse to be confined simply because I am a girl. I am a smart and stubborn individual, capable of making my own decisions.

I have a strong desire to engage in activities typically associated with men, such as horseback riding, sword fighting, duels, and exploring new countries. I find it frustrating to be labeled as stubborn, but I must clarify that my determination and persistence only come into play when it comes to achieving my goals.

As I bring my horse to a halt, I am in awe of the breathtaking scenery before me. The ground is adorned with a variety of flowers, while a few trees provide shade in the vicinity. A nearby waterfall cascades down, creating a mesmerizing sight and filling the air with the joyful melodies of countless birds. This place holds a special allure for me, which is why I enjoy spending time here.

I am confident that no one has ventured into this secluded spot, as it remains within the boundaries of my family's domain. My father has strictly forbidden anyone outside of high society from visiting. In fact, if you were an ordinary wolf residing beyond the wealthiest lineage, you would face interrogation, and a single wrong answer would result in being dragged to the dungeon by the soldiers.

With a smile on my face, I walk through the falls and witness the crystal-clear water descending from the mountaintop into the body of the waterfall. Although not particularly large, it captivates me with its beauty. I notice a unique flower thriving amidst the rocks and earth surrounding the lake.

Even the scent of the place is alluring, drawing me in further. I take a deep breath, allowing myself to fully immerse in the delights of this serene location. Eventually, though, I find myself yearning for more, craving more.

Feeling the urge to indulge in the moment, I made the spontaneous decision to strip down to my underwear and take a refreshing swim. With a widened smile, I stepped into the water, allowing its coolness to envelop my body, bringing a sense of relaxation.

As I reveled in the tranquility of the place, I couldn't help but murmur, "How I wish I could stay here forever."

Suddenly, a male voice spoke from behind, causing my eyes to widen. It was Killian. His unexpected presence caught me off guard, and I found myself momentarily breathless.

Just as I was about to stand up, I realized that I was completely naked, and without the water to shield me, Killian would see me in my entirety.

"I thought you didn't see me," I sighed audibly. Slowly turning around, I was taken aback as Killian threw my clothes at me.

"Put something on before you turn around," he said sternly.

How dare he toss my clothes at me like that? They were princess dresses, after all. Nevertheless, I had no choice but to reluctantly put on my damp clothing.

Once dressed, I approached Killian with a sense of urgency. As usual, he was clad in all black, his piercing golden eyes glaring at me. I imagined an invisible plume of smoke wafting across his chiseled nose. His lips, so tempting and kissable, were pressed tightly together, and his clenched jaw indicated his anger.

Even in his enraged state, his towering presence barely allowed me to stand, but I refused to be intimidated. Perhaps I let out a sigh, or maybe I was skilled at concealing my worries.

"How many times have I told you not to sneak out of the mansion like this? Your father will scold you again. When will you grow up, young lady? You act as if you're still seven years old. It's as if you haven't changed since the day I met you," he scolded.

I swallowed hard, fighting back the tears that threatened to fall. I should have grown accustomed to his nagging words, but they always struck a chord deep within my heart. Meeting his gaze, I responded confidently, "Since then, I have evolved. As you can see, I'm no longer the young lady hopelessly in love with an idiot like you."

With that, I turned to leave. However, my steps came to an abrupt halt as a crossbow was fired in my direction.
