“I suppose I can see your dad’s point. He wants you all to be happy and not just work yourselves for the sake of the company. To have hobbies, friends, family; it makes sense and I suppose it is a good idea. My question is, how do I help you get CEO?” Meredith asked then took a sip of her wine as it was refilled and their souffle dishes taken away. The souffle left on her tongue accented the wine perfectedly she wished she had eaten it slower to savor this combination longer.
“Well as I said I will need help in the Social aspect so I need someone who has hobbies that I can get behind and help support.” He looked down at his paper. “You have a cat, Dino, is it?”
“Yes, how do you know that?”
“So you are passionate about animals?”
“I don’t know if I would say passionate
The next day Meredith had a date with Ben the guard. Even though she was deep in thought and distracted all day due to her conversation with Brayden Maxwell she had already rescheduled once and felt it would be rude to cancel with him again so she got dressed in her favorite jeans and a cute flowy pink short sleeve blouse. Meredith took the L downtown and met Ben outside the Purple Pig. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a button up black short sleeve shirt. He looked different out of his guards uniform but he still turned red when he saw her and smiled like he usually did at work. “Hi. I guess I forgot to ask if you eat pork?” He said as way of apology for taking her to an all pork restaurant. “Who doesn’t love bacon.” Meredith smiled a half smile. Brayden was still in the back of her thoughts keeping her
“What’s wrong?” Meredith’s mother asked as they sat at Pot Belly’s. “Huh?” Meredith looked up. She had been zoning out thinking of her upcoming project and how she would explain it to her mother. “Your chili has gone cold, dear. That’s not like you at all.” “Oh. I’m sorry. I sort of have a new project at work and I need to figure out how to figure out a way around the legality of it but I signed an NDA so I’m not even sure how to get help.” “You can talk to Uncle Jack. He’ll help.” “You’re right.” Meredith sighed and took a swallow of her cold chili. “I’ll call him tomorrow I guess.” “Mayb
Meredith had thought long and hard over the week about what Brayden had threatened from her and also what her uncle had advised her. She also tried very hard to not think about it as much as possible which was neary impossible to do. Finally Thursday she made a decision and started going over all her afairs accordingly. She wasn’t sure when Brayden Maxwell would call on her but she was sure he would before the day was over. She got to work early and got her desk set up to work. Mr. Hubert walked by and told her he had a quick meeting with the team at 9:05 and then she was needed in Mr. Brayden Maxwell’s office on the thirty-seventh floor and would be excused for the rest of the day to prepare for whatever project Brayden had for her. She was not looking forward to it but steeled her nerves and nodded to her boss. The Graphic Design Apparel team gath
Meredith headed to the elevator and pushed the up button. She was wearing her flats, a straight khaki skirt she had gotten at Target and a light flowy green blouse that buttoned up the back she had found at a thrift store. She wasn’t dressed to impress like she had been the previous Friday or how Brayden had suggested, more so demanded that she dress from now on should she sign the contract. She had woken up thinking about what to wear. She did manage to do her makeup to bring out the gold in her eyes like Taylor had showed her. She liked it. It was simple to do and light. She didn’t like those caked on layers of makeup looks that took hours to apply. The elevator stopped at floor twenty-six and picked up a couple of guys that got off at floor thirty-one. Meredith only had six more floors to go. She was hoping someone would get on and help stall the elevator and sure enough it stopped at floor thirt
Brayden Maxwell unclasped his hands and opened the file folder that he had sitting in front of him. He sighed and began to read. “Margarette Anne Baker Glenn, age 50, birthday June 9th, 1971. She is slightly taller than average at five feet eight inches and average build. She enjoys tennis, photo bombing, and spending Sundays with her daughter. She studied business at a business college but dropped out after meeting and marrying Dennis Mason Glenn. Maggie as she is often called has a best friend Erin Perry who she met at business school. She has a sexual relationship with Erin and her husband is aware although not entirely supportive.” “What the fuck.” Whispered Meredith. She had no idea her mother was having an affair and she was even further shocked that Brayden Maxwell knew so much about her mother. “Dennis Ma
Meredith looked at Brayden Maxwell with contempt. He didn’t care that he was ruining her life. In fact he thought he was helping her by forcing her to marry him. She had just started dating again and finally able to enjoy herself after two years of heartbreak and here comes this rich asshole thinking he could twist her arm until she cried uncle. Well she did actually call her uncle earlier in the week but that’s besides the point. She sighed and rummaged through her bag to find her cell phone. She finally found it under her soup spoon and pulled it out. She looked up at Brayden again and he made a motion for her to go ahead and call her parents. She decided to call her father first. She wasn’t entirely sure why she chose him. Maybe she felt like he would tell her without asking a ton of questions first. She chose his number under Father and dialed listening to it ring twice before he pick
“Why are you smiling? I thought you hated me.” Brayden looked at her with interest still with a slight smile on his face. “Oh. Well mostly I’m smiling for my parents. I was devastated to find out what’s going on and while it’s still upsetting at least I can help in some way or another. I wouldn’t have been able to help at all.” She responded after thinking about it. “And I don’t hate you. I don’t know you beyond bullying me into marrying you. I definitely don’t like you, but if you hold up your end o the deal and help my parents then I can at least tolerate you.” “Thanks.” Brayden mumbled and stood up. “Do you want your lawyer present for the signing?” “Huh?” Meredith asked as Brayden shrugged on his suit jacket and walked to the door. “Your uncle. I know you told hi
“I can’t go to your flat now!” Meredith objected.“Our home.” Brayden corrected her. “Why not. We are married.”“I don’t have any clothes for one.”“I had Sean run an errand and pick you up a few items of clothing.”“What!” Meredith flushed with embarrassment.“My sister helped.” Sean added from the driver seat.“See there you have it. Even a womans touch to make sure it’s suitable.” Brayden said.“But what about Dino.” Meredith continued.“Dino?”&n
