Chapter 4

The next morning Zoe woke up early around four in the morning then went out to find somewhere to train. Just because she was here it did not mean she can slack and not train. She is a warrior and warriors trained every day. She found the training grounds easily and was glad there was no one else around. She trained for about an hour then stopped and went back to the room she was given.

She showered then went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, there was no one in the kitchen yet so she started on her own. She took out the ingredients and started making the muffins aunt Nora used to make for them. Blueberry and chocolate muffin. Then she made pan cakes, eggs, beacon, toast, sliced cucumber, tomatoes, some fruits then made freshly squeezed orange juice.

The two other omegas came in while she was looking for plates to set the huge table. “Sorry we are late, we overslept.” The other one apologized. “Smells so good in here, did you make all this?” asked Liza the one she met the day before. “Yes, I did but I can’t find the plates to set the table.” She answered her. “Don’t worry we will take care of that, you saved us today. We stayed up late last night talking and alpha would have been furious if he came here and found no breakfast.” Liza said taking out the plates to set the table.

The other helped and the table was set fast. “I don’t even understand why he wants breakfast ready on time when he doesn’t even eat here.” This came as a shock to Zoe, if he does not eat here then where does he eat? “Where does he eat then?” she asked, and Liza looked around before answering. “He hunts, he only eats here when he wants to but most of the time he hunts to eat.” No wonder his breath smelled like raw meat.

Zoe thought, she did not find what he was doing healthy at all. Before anything else was said footsteps were heard. “Smells nice Liza.” Said beta JP. “Thank you, beta JP, but I did not cook today, our new recruit did.” JP glanced at Zoe before he mind linked his friend. ‘You have to eat breakfast here today.’ Luka raised an eyebrow when he got the message. ‘There is no need for that, they make the same things anyway and am not in the mood.’ Luka declined.

‘Am telling you that you will like this, the girl made it.’ JP told him making Luka stop and hesitate before going down the stairs. The aroma of the food could be smelled from all the way to the stairs and that made Luka curious. He walked all the way to the dining room and when he got there. All the other pack members that lived in the packhouse were eating, JP included. He went and took his seat then served himself a little of everything.

The food looked and smelled good. It was not their usual cereal, crumbled eggs, and beacon. The eggs were sunny side up and the there were more things to choose from. ‘Good huh?’ JP mind linked him. “Are there more pancakes?” asked JP seeing how his friend and alpha was eating them. “Yes, beta JP there is more.” Liza looked at Zoe who was standing on the side with the other omega.

After serving food the omegas of the pack stand aside and wait for the high ranked to finish eating then clear the table or get them whatever they need from the kitchen. Zoe went and got more pancakes and brought them to the table. JP thanked her and ate. When they were done, Zoe and her team started clearing the table. “Thank you for the delicious breakfast and I can’t wait for lunch. I will be sure to come back in time for it, right alpha?” complimented JP.

“mm” that was all Luka said before leaving the dining room with JP following behind. “I thought you said he doesn’t eat here.” Complained Zoe when they got to the kitchen making Liza laugh. “Blame beta JP not me, I saw him mind linking and am sure he was talking to the alpha.” Zoe was pale and shaking a bit. “Are you scared of our alpha?” asked Liza after noticing her behaviour.

Zoe did not answer her, there was no need to because even a fool could see that she feared him. All this time she was standing on the side she was praying for the breakfast to be over so that she can get away from him, but his beta had to ask for more pancakes. Liza sighed when she did not answer and put her hand on Zoe’s shoulder in a comforting manner.

“I know how you feel, and I understand. Our alpha is very scary, and it does not help that his aura is that of death. Everywhere he goes the air changes like something bad is going to happen. Do not feel bad, I still feel the same way around him as well. I am trying to get used to it but it’s difficult.” Liza shared her own feelings, having an alpha like Luka was not easy on anyone.

The whole pack hoped that he would find his mate and maybe then he would change. But their alpha was not even looking for his mate which made that idea seem farfetched. “Am glad am not the only one who feels that way and I don’t even know what am doing here or when I will be allowed to leave.” Zoe told them making Liza look at her with pity.

“I don’t know either, but I hope he gets tired of having you’re here soon so that he let you go.” The other omega Sidney comforted. “In other news, he is leaving tomorrow so you won’t have to see him.” Liza told them cheerfully. “Where is he going?” asked Zoe, she was scared that he might want to go with her since he brought her here for a threat.

“Beta JP says he is going back to the evil mountain.” Answered Liza frowning, the whole pack did not like the idea of the evil mountain, they believe that if their alpha were not left there, he would have been a different person. Now he was going back there, who knows when he will be back this time? “Why would he want to go back there? I mean according to the stories I don’t think I would want to go back to a place where I was abandoned.”

Zoe could not understand why he would want to go back, he was home now and did not have to hunt to eat. There is food and he can live a normal life again. “We were wondering the same thing, but we can’t really ask him why he wants to go back. Let us just say that he has his reasons.” Liza stated with a frown on her face.

She was the oldest omega in this pack and was only fifteen when Luke was sent away by his father. She knew how cruel Luka’s father was to everyone and she could not imagine how Luka survived out there or what attachment he has with that place. But then again, it was his home for nine years. “As long as he is not taking me with him then I will be fine.” Zoe commented.

Liza and Sidney looked at each other having a silent conversation. “Why did alpha bring you here anyway?” asked Liza, JP did not tell him anything when he asked her to fix a room for Zoe and she did not ask either.

“I was told that there was a threat here and I had to come and assist in sorting it out. But I do not believe there was ever any threat because your pack is one of the most feared in this region and no witch or vampire would dare cross this pack. So, I don’t know why I was brought here.” Liza smiled, this was usual for their alpha to just go and bring random people to their pack. Why would he bring her back and do it under false pretences? “I can agree with you on that one but as I said before, he might have his reasons.” The conversation between the three ended there and after they ate, they were their separate ways cleaning the packhouse.

Zoe was relieved that the devil alpha will be leaving but was also scared that he might take her with him. If that happened, she could not refuse. ‘Oh Goddess, please don’t let him take me with, better yet let him send me back home. My birthday is coming up and I would love to spend it at home with Lizzy and Mason.” She missed her friends but had no way of communicating with them since she did not bring her phone.

Her situation was just hopeless, she just prayed that the devil alpha has some humanity left in him and let her go. She was of no use to him anyway, but they needed her in her pack. After cleaning the packhouse Zoe went to train for an hour before it was time to prepare lunch. As she trained, she was not at ease, the forest in the devil pack is the most dangerous one and training close to it made her uneasy.

She felt like she was being watched this whole time she was there and that was another reason for her to cut her training short. She did not feel safe there and wanted to go home and soon.
