~ Chapter 49 ~

Jackie sat down on the bench at the park, her head tipped back to enjoy the sun. It was a wonderful afternoon and she almost didn’t want to go to work tonight. In fact, she wished she had brought the kids to the park rather than come alone to meet him, but Greg had messaged her and asked to talk, just like he said he would at the ice cream place. Against her better judgment, of course, she agreed to do it. She was hoping he was coming to apologize about his behavior with his kids, although she knew that was wishful thinking on her part.

Her eyes scanned the clouds, smiling as she picked out random shapes. She remembered when she would do that when the kids were younger and how they always laughed with glee. She shook her head to clear it and turned as she heard the approaching footsteps. Greg walked up to her, smiling slightly.
