Chapter 3: Ella is in Danger

It’s Monday morning. Because of recent events, Simon took a taxi instead of using his car to go to his office. It’s been a while since he tried to be average. At the hospital he owns, everyone greeted him with a welcoming smile.

“Good morning, doc!” everybody greeted him.

Simon smiled. “Good morning.”

Clara, his assistant nurse, follows him immediately when he arrives at his office. She got some coffee. His office is simple and cool as well.

“How’s your leaving, Doc? Were you able to rest?” said Clara.

Clara faced him with both hands on the table and a slight bow. He looked at her open uniform and almost got a look at her breasts.

Simon glanced away from the uniform. He looked at Clara.

“I said to you, Clara, to repair your uniform. You are a nurse, not a brassiere model,” says Simon.

Simon instantly sipped his coffee. He had a fresh taste of coffee, but he ignored it. If it were poison, that would be brilliant. Clara smiled and stared into his face. In how the woman looked at him, he was right in his suspicion. She had put something in his coffee that was likely poison or a potion. He lived long, and many have done such a thing to him. Some are out of envy, and others are out of love.

Simon held Clara’s face and drew his face towards her. She closed her eyes When the woman believed he was about to kiss her. Simon smiled slightly and stared at the woman.

“Clara, pay attention to your boyfriend. You don’t interest me,” Simon told Clara.

Clara’s eyes widened. Simon was no longer holding her. Simon wasn’t standing next to her, so she turned around. He stood at the door. He had already opened the door and let Clara go out. And the woman frowned and walked away. Simon closed the door immediately and breathed deeply.

He may have a longer life, but he’s also a man who can feel ho*** and hot-boned when women flirt with him like Clara, but the cry from his brain is more powerful than the cry from the flesh.

Simon was sitting in his place when somebody knocked on the door. It was Clara.

“Doc, the surgery will start in 5 minutes. The patient has already moved into the operating room,” she said.

“Very well, thank you,” replied Simon.

Simon immediately stood up and put on his uniform.

Everyone knows his hospital for its achievements and positive reviews from its patients. The hospital also provides medical and funeral care for those who cannot afford a hospital bill for one week’s support for hospital tasks such as cleaning, bringing food to patients, and changing bedding, blankets, and pillowcases. The hospital is educating them before they get to work. There is also a small allowance for their families. It’s been Simon’s simple task for two hundred years.

Simon and Samuel argued once about the free hospital service, but Samuel did nothing because it was his. He did not reject all the patients he could care for at the hospital, even if they had contagious illnesses. Children who know him refer to him as a “super doctor.”

-

When his emergency team encountered him in the emergency room, he had just finished his operation. It shocked him when he met the patient on the stretcher, covered in blood and still wearing a police uniform.

“Uncle, it’s Ella,” Seth said, weeping.

“Is that Ella?” Simon was quite shocked.

He turned to the nurses and ran into them. The nurses let Seth out, but Simon came through.

“What happened?” Simon spoke to the nurse.

“Gunshot, doctor, into the chest,” said the nurse.

Simon provided immediate support for the operation.

-

During surgery, the patient’s blood pressure decreases. Simon was a bit upset. He knew Ella would lose, regardless of what he did. While Simon was doing the surgery, Ella’s blood pressure and heart rate dropped. Behind Simon’s face mask, he prayed while operating on Ella. Two doctors were there, and they knew Ella could not handle the extended operation. It will take two to six hours. While the bullet was still in Ella’s lungs, he concluded they had shot Ella less than 3 feet from the gunman. Simon lacks patience. He would not let Ella die. She’s too young to die and still hasn’t taken advantage of life.

“Scalpel,” Simon said.

The nurse handed him the knife. Simon removed his gloves and cut his arm. Everyone there looked at him in shock.

“Simon, what are you doing?” The other doctor asked.

“Syringe,” said Simon.

“But doc…” muttered another nurse.

“Follow my command!” Simon’s voice was powerful. “The patient is dying!”

Everybody’s a little confused. Simon felt the pain, but it was only an instant. Within a few seconds, the wound healed as well. He took the syringe and halved his blood there. Everyone is still monitoring the patient’s vital signs. They overheard the noise of the machine. He looked at her, and Ella’s heart rate was flat. He quickly transferred blood from the syringe into the tube strapped to her dextrose.

Simon waited a few seconds, but Ella didn’t have a heartbeat yet. Nothing happened when he started pumping her chest. He became desperate. He hugged the woman and cried.

-

Ella is recovering in the hospital. Many people are asking questions about the girl’s rapid healing. He even wanted to know how Ella lived. Everyone thought she was dead, but after about five minutes, the machine rang again, signaling that Ella was still alive. As Simon watched Ella sleep deeply, he turned to Samuel. He’s holding her hand. It was long before Samuel and Nana had the chance to have a child. There were over forty couples during this period.

“Thanks a lot, Simon. You saved my family once more,” Samuel said.

Samuel’s ancestors were aware of Simon’s secret. Rafael, Helena, and Lando’s son died after the transfusion, and he didn’t know why. He just thought that maybe only his body could do this weird thing and not be able to translate it to other people. Since then, Simon did not merely give his blood for fear that the fate that had befallen him would pass on to the one he translated. It took him almost 70 years to figure out what happened to him after that day, but he got no answer. Regardless of the suicide he commits, his body heals illness, injury, or fractures within seconds. He’s going through some pain, but it’s only temporary. What effect did his blood transfusion have on Ella? He was uncertain for how long.

“Ella is like my daughter, the kid is close to me, so I can’t let her die, and I know I can save her,” said Simon. “I’m sorry too. I know you don’t want me to transfuse your children with my blood, too, because I don’t know what would affect them, but I had to….”

“It’s okay. Even if you do not do it voluntarily, I will ask you. She’s too young to die. And I can’t afford it, as her parents like to bury her. So, thank you so much,” Samuel said.

Samuel hugged Simon. After that, Simon laughed as Samuel wiped his tears with his hand.

“Any news on the suspect?” Simon asked.

“As you ordered, I’m going after him. As long as we get the money, we’ll find him quickly,” Samuel said.

“When he gets caught, bring him to me,” said Simon.

Samuel nodded.

Simon never came home to keep an eye on Ella. He sent Samuel home to rest. His friend is no longer a kid, and he doesn’t want him to be the next one to disappear. Simon was standing by the room’s window, staring out. He recalled the help he had received from his ancestor, Samuel. That is how he cared about his family up to this point.
