Getting Dangerous

Lyle jerked her eyes open. The blast was so loud that she found Ryder already rushing outside. Quickly she wore her shorts and tank top and ran outside. The explosion was so loud that it came like a horrible yell from hell. It was very dark but the forest in front of their lodge was engulfed in fire. Flames rose high into the night as if challenging the darkness of the night, challenging the sanctuary of the forest animals. The fire ran impatiently everywhere, engulfing everything that came in the way. 

Lyle put her hands on the head as Ryder watched the catastrophe. Two trees were uprooted, the splinters of which had broken several glass windows. The loud cry of birds and animals was terrifyingly painful. 

“How did this happen?” asked Lyle as goose bumps lined her skin and her stomach plummeted to her feet.
