Chapter Two

White moon pack

Nimerah watched her mate leave and two of their warriors climb up in her direction to take guard outside the room while she returned to her sleeping cub's room.

She began to pace nervously when it seems as if it was taking time for her mate to return. She wanted so badly to go to him, to assure herself that he was alright that he was safe because she didn't know how she will survive if something was to happen to him but a look at her still sleeping daughter kept her rooted inside the room pacing up a storm and praying to the moon goddess that her mate was safe.

Nimerah went to the window and looked into the night but all she saw was pinch, darkness, the moon has gone into hiding behind the sky. Staring into the forest she allowed her wolf to emerge through her eyes, turning her usual warm hazel eyes into glowing gold giving her a clear vision into the night.

At first, all was still and calm then she saw them, the glowing red eyes with golden furs an eerie contrast to the night emerging from the shadows in numbers.

THE GOLDEN MOON PACK, She thought in disgust and fear.

They were packs of lawless and ruthless weres that has been cast out from their clans turning them into rogues.

A wolf turns into a rogue if it wonders for so long without belonging to a clan. One of the first thing it loses its connection with its formal clan, then it's fur will start fading and taking on a golden hue, at the time it fur is completely gold the wolf becomes a full-fledged rogue.

Rogues are not just wolves cast out by clans, rogues can also be made. When a rogue bites another wolf not a rogue it can inject a venom into the wolf that causes changes in that wolf severing it's connection with it's clan and by the time the venom has travelled all over the system and it's fur has completed its colour change the wolf becomes a rogue.

The process is a very painful ones that not all wolves survive it.

Another quality of rogues are that they are lone wolf preferring to hunt alone and had little or no dealings with other rogues, and they lacked intelligence or the organization to pose a real threat to the wolf community and so were disregarded in the community, until EGON RAGHNALL, an ambitious power-hungry ruthless man who had been exiled from his pack, the black moon pack, the strongest and the largest pack in the wolf clan, turned rogue.

The son of a bitch had been so hungry to rule that he had challenged the newly-crowned Alpha of the black moon pack, alpha Roderick who had just been twenty years when he became alpha.

Egon had thought him too young and weak to lead the strongest pack in the wolf clan and had issued a challenge to his right to reign.

Since it is the rule of the wolf clan that anyone can challenge a new leader, no one disputed Egon challenge, even the alpha father, and Roderick had to accept the challenge or forfeit the right to rule and so the young alpha had accepted the challenge.

Egon being the cocky son of a bitch he was started to parade himself as the alpha even before the day of the challenge with a little faction of the pack on his side.

He felt himself to be stronger than a willy prickly cub, the name he coined for the young alpha, and as such didn't feel that the boy will be a threat.

To the surprise and happiness of all except for Egon supporters alpha Roderick fought and defeated the bastard, and Egon and his supporters were driven out of the Blackmoon pack in disgrace and shame with a huge chunk of his face missing where the young wolf alpha had bitten him.

Egon had left the pack bittered and humiliated with his tail tucked behind his legs, along with his band of supporters promising to be back for what he believes was rightly his.

Years passed with no one hearing from Egon and his pack of wolves and he was all but forgotten, but unknown to the were community Egon was not silent, not only was he able to unite the rogues he was able to get them to fight for him and to worship him as their alpha, and he also was able to secretly without being detected build himself an army of rogues by converting weres forcefully into rogues.

The wolf community only became aware of the threat Egon and his pack posed when rogues attack in the community went on the high side with so many wolves disappearing and no one knowing their way about.

At first, it seemed random making the ruling council, comprising of wolf elders to ignore it, then it escalated to organized attacks involving so many Wolf's some being killed outrightly others being turned into a rogue by the poisonous bite of a rogue.

The ruling council tried to capture and punish the rogues involve in the crime but they always seem to elude capture and even if captured preferred death than spill who was responsible.

Their manner of attack seems so organized and well thought out that the wolf community began to suspect that there was more to this than meets the eyes and that the rogues had to be under the control of someone very powerful.

It wasn't until the annihilation of the red moon pack that the face behind the attacks was revealed.

Egon was spotted amidst the mass of rogues that took down the red moon pack but he had quickly disappeared before he could be hunted down.

He had been in hiding breeding mass of rogue warriors and no one is yet to figure out the number of rogues he has under his command, but they are pretty much of the stories of how he massacred the red moon was to be believed.

He had taking the pack by surprise attacking them before they could organize themselves.

He killed their alpha, luna and all the strong members of the pack and the remaining he turned to rogues adding more people to his army and by the time other clans could arrive he and his bands of warriors were no where to be seen.

The remaining packs, Black moon, White moon, Gray moon, Silver moon pack and Blue moon pack, under the command of the elders, had sent out warriors to hunt down the rogues responsible for the massacre but they only succeeded in cutting off the smaller snakes of the medusa head but the main head remained intact and missing until now.

Nemirah began to move back as Carla her wolf steered up at the sight of the danger.

Screams began to ring high into the night as the enemies began to attack.

All that was in Nemirah mind was protecting her daughter.

She ran straight to the sleeping child trying to wake her up but the girl was resisting so she picked her up and ran out of the room while sending a distress call to her mate through their mate bond.

The screams of pain and the dying was so loud in the night as the pack members were being torn apart.

Wolfs began to hurl into the night as the remaining warriors tried to keep their pack mates safe but they were soon overwhelmed by the attacking wolves.

By the time Nemirah made it downstairs the pack house has been invaded by rogues removing the option of escaping through the front door.

Nemirah turned back and headed for the hiding door her mate had installed in case of situations like this. When the pack is under attack and they needed to escape.

She couldn't change while still carrying her daughter in her arms.

She had just turned the corner when she came face to face with a growling golden wolf its red eyes glowing and scary.

Nemirah froze clutching her daughter who was beginning to stair from her sleep tightly to her blossom while keeping a wary eye on the growling rogue.

Nemirah bent down and took out the dagger her mate had given her for protection and held it protectively in front of her.

No matter what she was not going to let the rogue harm her daughter.

Nemirah could hear the screams of her people dying and it caused her heart to bleed that she couldn't do anything to protect her pack.

She turned around following the movement of the rogue as it began to circle her. She made sure to keep it in her sight.

Her baby girl woke up calling out to her, she turned to calm her child only to find the young girl regarding the rogue with fear in her eyes but was smart enough to remain quiet.

Her momentary distraction caused the rogue to lodge at her and only the warning from her daughter made her leap away quickly from the wolf.

" Don't be afraid baby girl, mummy will protect you, " Nimerah assured her daughter still keeping her eyes on the rogue that began to circle them again.

Her baby girl nodded while clutching her neck tightly that Nimerah was finding it difficult to breathe but she didn't tell the girl to ease up.

She desperately wished her mate was here but in his absence, she was going to do everything in her might to keep their daughter safe.

The wolf rose on its powerful hind limbs before lodging at them, but he was quickly knocked off by a huge white wolf. It was one of their warriors.

" GO LUNA!!!! " The wolf screamed through the pack l**k as he and the rogue began to fight.

Nimerah took the opportunity that the golden wolf was engaged to escape through the hidden door in the back.

She ran out the door heading south of their territory away from the pack.

She was almost to the border when she heard the sounds of loud growls and glowing red eyes coming from all sides.

She glanced around to find them surrounded.

" You have to let me out so I can protect our cub " Carla, Nimerah wolf growled in her mind, while pacing in rage.

Nimerah glanced around for were safe to keep her child but she couldn't.

She shifted her daughter to face her that she was looking into her golden eyes.

" Sweety I am going to put you down I want you to stay close to me, do you understand? " Nimerah said to her child.

The little girl nodded her head, and Nimerah pulled her close into her arms hugging her tight.

" Mama loves you baby girl, " she whispered to her before placing her on the ground.

The growl was getting closer and Nimerah can now make out the golden furs in the shadows.

She turned around to face them shielding her child from their glowing orbs.

Her chest began to rubble as an aggressive growl escaped through her throat that came out through a wolf mouth as Carla took her place.

She stood an impressive height of six feet which was taller than most females weighing 200 pounds, her fur pure white like the rest of their pack mates.

She felt her mate worry and sensed he was had arrived at the packed ground and was looking for them so she sent him a message through their bond telling him where they were, then she concentrated on defending their child till her mate gets here.
