Chapter thirty -two Guns for Hire

I jerked up from the haze induced slumber. My head throbbed to a point of nausea . I looked around this wasn't the cold wet ground at the cemetery. I was wrapped in a soft blanket I in a warm bed. How did I get here was it all a sick dream. I gingerly touch my forehead my fingers skimmed over what must be a bandage of some sort. My vision cleared and I realized not only was I in a warm bed but my mud soiled clothes were gone . In its place a soft silk ivory nightgown encompassed  me . 

why was in Clayton's bed and who dressed me? Theses questions swirled in my mind. I threw off the comfort of the blanket. I slowly padded my way to the door. I was going to get answers no matter the cost. I slowly padded my way down the hall . The wooden floorboards didn't squeal as I made my way towards the kitchen area. I heard hushed whispering coming for the office. The only room I wasn't allowed to explore. I instantly understood why Clayton for bid me to go there.
