Tequila looked outside the window of the car and she was in awe. She would admit that she expected a rural settlement. Maybe people in dirty clothes and dirty streets and tattered people. That was the idea that she had. The land of Ikram was a bit removed from civilization, at least that was what she thought. The place was beautiful, it was clean and it was serene. And yet it had a homey feeling to it. Tequila could smell bread baking, she could see women dressed like she was walking down the streets with their family. She could see children playing. Uthman did not know that he could feel fear that could be so gripping, fear that held on to him and did not let go. Uthman did not think that it was nearly normal to be so scared. He was only just getting used to being a father, he had not experienced everything that a father should and would. He had not even gone through the normal process of being a father. Tequila could not get the contents of the letter out of her head. After that day they all went back to the palace and she was back to her reserved self. She was the way she was when she was attacked in the palace. Tequila could not blame them, they had just danced together and yet their relationship was over.
