Chapter Ten

Elizabeth was such a tiny little girl sickly all the time. It was miraculous that she survived. When she finally reached the age of thirteen, her sickness was catching up. Once it became apparent, she was going to die; her father carried her into the wilderness and left her in a meadow to die alone. He had been sickened by her since the day she was born. She could hear the animals of the night circling her weak little body. She drew just enough strength to curl herself up into a ball to cry herself to death.

A flash of light shocked her eyes, and she was blinded for a few moments. When her eyes adjusted, she focused on the green light in front of her. She mustered enough energy to sit up against a tree and looked around to see if she could see someone. A black woman in a green flowy gown stepped out. Her skin seemed to shimmer even in the dark. I do enjoy that she goes back in time to give us origins of some the characters. I hope she does that with Kohl and I can't wait till we truly find out what Elizabeth is.
