Chapter 5 Internship Days(First meeting of Miguel&Bettina)

   Working fulltime as a student doctor was quite intimidating. There where times Senior doctors treat as so badly some other inspired us and motivate.

  The first day was exactly the antithesis of the glorious vision I had of saving lives; the attending physician had already left for the OR as he had multiple surgeries lined up for the day and, ‘we could go home if we wanted or hang around’.

   I remember during our internship days me and Rosa was always my buddy.  Doing SOP in checking the patient. The hard part is when me and Rosa was assigned to E.R.

  “This is going to be hell!!” Rosa whisper me nervously 

  “Are you ready for the real battle Sis?!?” question her in intimidating way “Haha!! Of course are you ready to rumble?!?” hahah!

  “Hey! Ladies! Here in trauma 2 faster!” we immediately run and went to trauma 2 doing SOP. And totally excited still need in focused.

  The patient is a 6 year old boy mild contusion and broken nose. He was hit by his older sister. We immediately gave the first aid while assisting our Senior Doctor.

 “What happen?!” As Dr. Mendoza asked in hurry

  “Am am I don’t know it went so fast I just heard Benjamin crying and calling me asking for my help. I run immediately and saw Margaret punching him!!" crying and shaking tremendously

  “Will he be okay? Please Doctor do everything you can!!”

  Dr. Mendoza asked her “Is this the first time to happen?”

  “No no actually several times Margaret hurt her little brother.” As soon as the mother said this Dr. Mendoza asked me to do Ct Scan and Xray and some blood work to for possible infection.

  Is she taking any medication?!?” Dr. Mendoza asked

  “No none" crying and continues shaking Dr. Mendoza nod her head and I understood what she meant to say.

  “Mam would you mind if I sent you outside? Don’t worry your son is in good hands." I guided her in the waiting area asking her to calm down. When I was about to leave she pulled my hand and look at me and say 

 “Thank you!” while tapping my hands. I just nod and smile while holding her hand.

  “Dr. Daze, page Dr. Santiago we need to consult it to the psychiatrist this is not a simple sister and brother fight. I think the girl has a mental condition”. She instruct me to make my notes as well and smiled

“You did a great Job!!”

  After a long and exhausted day, I sat and massaging my legs. “Ahh… Am I getting old?! My knees and leg always hurt hay!!” Suddenly I heard a familiar voice shouting  

"Sis, I’ve been looking  for you everywhere!” “oh no! Is your knees hurt again? Are you having your oldie feeling again?” while laughing and teasing me

 “Shut up! I’m  getting pissed!” while making face on her. She just hugged me and comfort me

 “I was joking Let’s go! Let’s eat. My treat!” She's smiling at me while blinking her eyes.

 Rosa was my best friend since Junior high school and how would you know we had a same passion and dream. And that is to become a Doctor.

  “C'mon Stand up! I’ll help you Auntie! Hahaha She grabbed me and rolled her arms around me and we walk together. While walking we talk about to go out on the evening since we don’t have duty on the weekends why not we enjoy.

  “I’m supposed to take a rest Sis, I’m lack of sleep due to a lot of work load for the whole week!" I saw her being discouraged 

  “Please Sis! Let’s take a break, Internship was a bit exhausted let’s just take time to enjoy" she smile and blink her eyes while her doing a please sign. This is what she is always doing everytime she wants to get my approval

  “Okay Okay! As what you wish for.” While making face on her again.

   Suddenly she shouted and do wiggle dance. “Stop what are you doing? Everyone is looking at you" she just said “I don’t care ee ee eehh!” Hahaha.. And we both laugh this time.

  She fetch me at exactly 8:00 in the evening, since I wasn’t able to drive my car because It’s my coding day.

  “You look awesome sis! You look like Amber Ross.” I wore a black dress and a little revealing  on the chest which my breast emphasized more. And partner it with my red bloody lipstick. I might say I’m quite beautiful and had a nice body which attracts men.

  “Thank you! You look awesome too" Rosa was really a diva! She wore a red skirt with a slit just above her thigh and just a bra type for her upper. It really match it with her brown reddish hair. “C'mon! hop in.

 When we were actually in the bar it was quite load since it was friday. We ordered a VIP seat and Sangria for me which is a typical beverage and Strawberry Daiquiri for Rosa. The night was full of fun, we dance on the floor. And enjoy the night together. Just a moment a waiter bring us a drink.

 “Excuse me Mam, here is a Strawberry Lemonade Vodka from the table at your side.” He point on the group of men on our side.

  “No! We don’t accept it okay please bring it back to them!” when the waiter was about to leave Rosa interrupt

  “No It’s okay will take it!” She looked on them and wave whispering “Thank you!”

  “Rosa! What are you doing? We don’t know them! I don’t want to get in trouble again" I’m suddenly get pissed and asked her to go home. But she refused “Bettina, calm down okay! Everything’s going to be okay!”

  At that moment I was already uncomfortable. You know every time me and Rosa went out we always get in trouble. For all I know Rosa really loves attention and often times we met a pervert.

  Few more moment’s the guy on the other table went us and initiate to sit. I said no but Rosa allowed them. I was not really not in the mood. I was not comfortable with this idea. Another guy sat beside me, I was really awkward and uncomfortable and in a state of leaving. But I stay modest and polite. The guy introduced himself as Travis.

  “Hi I’m  Travis!” he approached his hand to me I look Rosa and seeing her having fun talking to David ( That’s what he told his name). I don’t like to spoil the mood. So I grab Travis hand and smile a bit. “Bettina"

  He told me he is an Engineering Student graduated in “Unibersidad de San Antonio" which pretty amazing. That school is Top in listing which includes Engineering.   

  “Sounds great! I’m Student Doctor in “San Lorenzo Hospital" I took medicine in “La Trinidad de Benedicto”. I’m quite confident.

  “You’re awesome, Cool!” while he pointing his hand while smile at me sympathetically. Actually Travis was not so bad he is cool. He talk things with sense.

  “Bettina! I’m going to used the Restroom. You want to come with me?!” I saw her a little drunk but I refused to come with since I’m just done using the Restroom which is my fault.

  While Rosa was in the Restroom I’m started to get worried she is been away for 15mins. That where I decided to follow her.

  “Rosa?!” While knocking on the door.

  “Sis! It’s me are you okay??” my eyes was wide open when the door open and boom Its not Rosa.

   “Where is Rosa!?” my heart beat fast and suddenly felt cold. I run to Travis and grab his shirt.

  “Where is David? Where is your friend?!” pulling his shirt and shout him in a small but strong voice.

  “I don’t know we’re together right??!” he is now upset

  “Come with me! Help me find them or I will kick your balls!” trying to lower my voice so the Bouncer will not notice a commotion.

  “Faster!” As time past I’m getting nervous “Oh! Rosa! Where are you?!” we didn’t find her inside the bar so we decided to go to the parking lot.

  “There!” I run fast as if I’m not worrying I’m wearing a 4” High heeled shoes. I saw Rosa leaning on a Rolls-Royce Phantom.

  “Sis!!!!” as soon as she heard my voice Rosa grabbed me tight and cry

  “Dude!!! What the fu#*!! What happen to you?!?" I heard Travis shouted  when I look down I saw David full of blood around his face and his shirt. While I'm rubbing Rosa back and trying to calm down. I saw a man heading to us with a bouncer.

   “Are you Bettina? Your friend keeps calling your name earlier!” I become out of focused as I saw him having such a pretty face. He is like “Thor” my ultimate crush. All of the sudden a heard him twitching his hand it is where I back to my consciousness.

  “Yeah! I’m Bettina!”

   He directly instructed the bouncer to pick  and bring David to the Police station and report this incident. I heard Travis talking in distinct voice

  “Dude what did you do!!” Bettina I’m sorry I don’t know what to say!"  Travis is in totally shock and unaware of what happen. I asked him to follow David. The last word I heard from him is “I’m sorry!!”

 “Bring your friend to her home. She’s lucky I saw her and heard her scream. Next time never talk to strangers you will never know when you will meet a pervert!”

  When he is about to leave “Wait! How can I bring back a favor to you? I’m so thankful you saved my friend!”

   He just looked at me and walk “Wait!” He walked back and said “You don’t have to do a favor to me. I just did a right thing to do!” he looked at me and seems like he has a magic which pulled my energy. My mind says “He is so handsome! He really look like Thor”

  “Okay Thank you for saving my friend, By the way I'm Bettina! Bettina Daze”

  “No worries Bettina! I’m Miguel! Miguel Rojas"

   When we grab our hands I felt a sudden connection, It's like a energy that runs through our body. A familiar feeling "Butterflies on my stomach" Is this love at first sight?!
