Chapter five

Nicole's POV

"Hey Lexi, who's your friend?" One of the guys who accompanied the dickhead asked Lexi.

They were quite hot not as much as dickhead but still hotter than most  boys in this school.

And also yes I know I just admitted that dickhead was hot, I'm a girl and I appreciate the work of the creator when I see it.

Like he had done a pretty good job on them. The all had the same shade of brown with highlights on the tips, on top of their head, they were pretty tall although the one on the right seemed taller. They were probably at a 5'8 inch and I was struggling at a good 5'2 not bad, but not good either.

The one on the left whispered something to the guy who spoke earlier and his lips contorted into an 'O' shape like he just realised something.

Dickhead was standing at the middle with a scowl on his face as he glared persistently at the ground.

"Hi! I'm Brandon Ironside and this is Lucas Dane, I've been waiting to meet you since I head about you this morning" the slightly taller one introduced, his hand out for a handshake

"Nicole Thompson" I replied shaking his hands and Lucas's.

"Excuse me but did you just say you heard about me?" I asked

"Yeah! Everyone's talking about you. The girl who roasted Tyler Miller, I find it amusing, Because you're the only one whose ever said something bad about Ty to his face" he said which earned him a smack on his head from Tyler, who still had a prominent scowl on his face.

"This is all your fault" I growled pointing an accusing finger at him.

His expression went from surprise to anger in a splitting second

"MY FAULT! You insulted me and now it's my fault! Are you okay?" He thundered

"BECAUSE OF Y- "

"ENOUGH! " a shrill noise came from the furious lady in front of us. And I realised we were shouting and fighting in front of the entire class.

About 50 pairs of eyes were on us, and I could see the students murmuring amongst themselves.

I turned to look at the once peaceful English teacher glaring at us with flared nose. Her face was so red, if looks could kill I'd be with my sister by now. She was glaring at us with so much intensity. The room was stuck in a pin drop silence and I could tell some of the students were holding their breaths while others looked on with curious eyes.

"Since you both are so intent on disturbing my class, you won't mind doing this project together, would you?" She questioned

"What!!" We screamed at the same time

"Exactly! You both will be doing this year's project together and that's final!" She stated with a tone that suggested the conversation was over.

"Ma, you cannot do that!" I protested

Her eyes softened as her gaze landed on me

"I'm sorry Nicole, but you're making it very difficult for me to help you. I know you've been through a lot but please stop making things harder for the school board" She spoke, sympathy swirling in her blue orbs.

I looked over at Tyler, Brandon and Lucas and saw them burning with curiosity. Tyler's intense gaze was fixed on me as he tried to figure me out, his eyes held so much questions as he looked deep into me, I felt so uncomfortable and bare in front of him so I turned away. My eyes met those blue ones that had been comforting a few minutes ago, now held so much sympathy, Lexi's eye's now held a lot of pity. I looked around the classroom and saw the students faces, majority of them held the same emotion, sympathy.

I snapped, I hated this. I hated the pity and the sympathy. It's been five long years, why can't they get over it! Why do they keep making me feel like shit. I regret fighting with her that day, and I regret trusting my parents. But that was five years ago. I'm a much smarter person Now, and I had learned that putting all your trust in a human was not worth it. Humans were despicable and fake. If my own family could break my trust, then who can I trust.

"I don't remember asking you or the school board for their sympathy, in fact I didn't ask any of you for your sympathy.  You all pretend to care only to turn around and point fingers at me, so keep ignoring me and my existence like you had done for the past five years. And Mrs for your information, I will not be doing this project with anyone"

I glared at her direction one last time before storming off and exiting the classroom.

I made my way to the back of the school's administration block and found myself in a clearing.

There was nothing special about it, like those in the movies with great views and serenity of nature. This clearing was plain with 3cm tall grasses and rocks.

This place may be plain but it's healing power was unimaginable. This was the place Hayley and I came to when I made her ditch school for the first time she had been so excited and nervous

"How did I let you talk me into this? We're gonna get caught and then we're gonna get kicked out of school or worse sent to jail! My perfect attendance, my records, I wanted to be a prefect in my senior year but now I can never do that because I skipped class! What if the teacher did something in class?

How I'm I suppose to know?" Hayley ranted

Hay! Calm down okay. You'll be fine. Your attendance is still intact. Now just breath and enjoy the adrenaline pumping through your veins. Enjoy the good feeling of doing something bad, let down your hair and just enjoy" I told her in an attempt to calm her down and it seemed to have worked as I saw my elder sister take in a deep breath and retracted the head band that held her hair in a high ponytail.

Unlike me my sister had really long hair, although our hair's were of the same shade of colour, hers was more longer and suited her skin tone.

"Wow Nick, this place looks...horrible " she said while failing to stifle her laughter soon she was laughing out loud and I find myself joining her.

"It's not that bad, if you ignore the frogs and mud" I said in between laughs

"You being here makes it a lot better baby sis" she said sending me a smile

"Same here big sis" I replied smiling back at her

The memory flashed before my eyes as I head footsteps behind me. I turned around to acknowledge the stranger

"Hey " Lexi greeted awkwardly

"Hey " I replied

"Look I'm not in need of a pity party so whatever consoling words you have for me keep them to yourself " I stated without sparing her a glance.

"I'm not here for a pity party, I just wanted to know what you taught of the butter era" she said with a tentative smile.

I smiled and scooted over for her to take a sit beside me on the one of the rocks.

"I'm dead for blonde Jhope" she started
