It has been two weeks since Arthur had found out about Astor and so far, there is absolutely no news from him.
Nothing. Zilch. Nada.
When Victory returned from the Sinclairs residence two weeks ago, she half expected Arthur to suddenly turn up at her apartment holding a red balloon like that creepy crimson-haired clown called Pennywise in the horror movie It.
However, she has not seen Arthur anywhere. The last time she saw him was on that fateful Saturday two weeks ago. Even last Friday, she was supposed to have her weekly progress meeting with Arthur but he wasn't in his office. His secretary informed her that Arthur had left at noon. He has an appointment somewhere in the city and will not be returning.
This is so uncharacteristic of the Arthur that she knows. He wouldn't miss an appointment and he's definitely never missed any of their meetings before.
What Victory did not know, last Friday Arthur was at the hospital, picki
Hi! This chapter is a bit intense but I felt like these two need to work out their issues. Hope you guys like it. I look forward to reading your comments. xx F.A.R. Ps: Do give me some gems and share your review for the book. Thank you!
"Hold up!" Victory cried out as her slender legs trotted towards the partially closed elevator doors, her jacket flapping wildly behind her. The doors paused for half a second before parting and Victory nimbly jumped inside. "Thanks!" She said breathlessly, looking up to find familiar pale blue eyes glancing at her cautiously. Ugh, it's just Grouchy Luci, she realised glumly, flinching, her mouth turning into a frown. She turned her chin up in the opposite direction as Arthur stood silently on her right. Her arms were folded around her chest, loathing and anger reverberating in waves from her uptight posture. They've stopped talking since Arthur told her that he's going to sue her for custody. In fact, they've stopped everything and ignored each other since that Friday when he dropped the bomb. Well, if you count the specifics, Victory has been doing the ignoring part while Arthur is his usual brooding self.&nb
Once again the media is having a field day over Arthur and Victory's latest altercation. Their custody hearing have regrettably become shark bait once the news leaked to the press. For the past few days, various newspapers and gossip columns have been rehashing their disastrous wedding day debacle which happened a year and a half ago. Even Page Six of the New York Times have created a poll, asking its readers, will Victory triumph over the fallen Knight? Their faces were splattered all over the internet and on various newsstands across the city. It was like their wedding day fiasco all over again. Move over KimYe, VicThur from New York is claiming for the number one spot. Speculations flew rife, how did New York's famous elite couple who had infamously broken up under the scrutiny of the public eye, suddenly have a child? They are currently fighting tooth and nail to get custody over a child that bears the Knight surname. And the biggest twist
"We would like to call upon our next witness, Your Honor, Dr. Desmond Green." Harvey stood in the middle of the well and announced with aplomb, his arms opening wide like a maestro. There was a smug look on his face as his hazel eyes peered towards the opposing counsel. Victory's head whipped in surprise, her heart beating in dismay as her brain registered the familiar name. Her eyes turned to the witness box and she saw the stocky figure of Dr. Desmond, the psychiatrist who was treating her for PTSD a year and a half ago. Dr. Desmondwas wearing a freshly pressed suit, his toupee combed smartly to the side and his pale grey eyes were peering anxiously towards Harvey. Beads of sweat had appeared on his forehead, his Adam's apple bobbing nervously, looking ill at ease from the flurry of attention that he was receiving. The kind doctor will be easy pickings for the sweet tongued Harvey Specter. After Dr. Desmond repeated his oath, Harvey saun
"I have a proposition for you." I announced coolly as I sat next to her, gazing at her sullen face expectantly. We had completed the first round of custody hearing this morning and it broke my heart to see her being roasted by Harvey. And tomorrow's session will not get any easier on her. Harvey is a winner, he will not hesitate to pull all the stops just to win this case. It saddened me that I wasn't aware that she was experiencing severe anxiety and nightmares after the miscarriage. I wished she'd just told me about the nightmares. All the signs were there I suppose, butI refused to acknowledge them for what they are. Instead I reasoned them as wedding jitters. I was too caught up with everything that I failed to support her at a time when she needed me the most. "Huh?!" Victory's head whipped towards me in surprise. Her brilliant green eyes narrowing at me suspiciously. "Na'ah." She shook her head in dissent, causing her shin
The next day, I woke up to day two of the custody hearing. Like the opening scene in a typical Disney fairytale movie, the day started as a beautiful morning, the sun shining brilliantly against the bright blue sky, white tufted clouds floating above and birds flying in the horizon. Astark contrast to the dark ominous feeling that I have in my heart. I am closer to getting what I want and yet nothing is turning the way that I want it to be. When my car pulled up outside the U. S. Supreme Court building earlier this morning, I wasn't surprised to find a swarm of paparazzi waiting like sharks smelling blood on the stone steps of the courthouse. Their heads bobbing around like corks in smooth water, eyes flicking wildly from car to car. Anticipation building at every car that stopped in front of the courthouse, their cameras swinging recklessly, fervid to capture a shot of the estranged couple that is currently caught up ina bitter custody battle.
"Liana!" Adrian called out excitedly to the petite, dark-haired girl who was standing next to Arthur as he bounded down the steps with open arms. "It's been a year since I've last seen you! Now tell me, how are Leo and Luca?" Liana hugged Adrian warmly, a huge grin forming on her face. "Hello, cousin." She said as Adrian kissed her cheeks on both sides. "Both Leo and Luca are doing great and they are planning to come and visit you soon. Sometime during the next term break, I think." Liana looped her arm into Adrian's elbow and walked up the steps into the Knights mansion, leaving Arthur behind. Arthur shook his head at their retreating figures, both oblivious that they've left him behind. Liana is the youngest of the Ricci siblings. While Leo, short for Leonardo and Luca are identical twins, the same age as Adrian. Abigail's younger sister, Amber Knight had married an Italian, Luigi Ricci and chosen to live in Rome, Italy
After the much-publicised custody hearing, either by luck or by choice, Arthur and Victory had successfully avoided bumping into each other. This is an accomplishment by itself, considering the both of them are still working on the same floor and in the same company. However, be it as it may, time is running out and soon enough it is going to play catch up with the two estranged lovers. This morning, the managers and team leaders at A. K. Media are gathered for a meeting to discuss strategies to achieving the firm's targets for the fourth quarter of the year. By the time Victory arrived outside the meeting room, Arthur was already seated at his usual spot. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Victory enter the room with David, her assistant in tow. Her head was bowed down low and without looking at anyone, she had chosen to sit as far away as possible from him, at the other end of the table. Perhaps wanting to put as much distance as she can between them.
After some consideration, Victory agreed to Arthur's counter proposal. One date is definitely too short for her to make the decision whether she wants to move in with Arthur or not. There's a saying that goes, good things happen in threes. And Arthur now has three chances to make her fall in love with him. He'd better make those dates count. Aww, Arthur Knight has fallen head over heels in love and he is fighting for some real estate in Victory Sinclair's heart. Will the fallen Knight succeed in his quest? Be careful, Arthur. They say, once bitten, twice shy. But thrice, it's shame on you. Are you certain you want to go down that road with the same billionaire heiress? A few days later, Arthur finally asked Victory out for their first date. When Victory wanted to know where he was taking her,Arthur had cryptically told for her to dress formally and he will be picking her up by 6.30 pm on Saturday. In retrospect, perhaps
