44. Friendzone
"Hold up!" Victory cried out as her slender legs trotted towards the partially closed elevator doors, her jacket flapping wildly behind her.
The doors paused for half a second before parting and Victory nimbly jumped inside.
"Thanks!" She said breathlessly, looking up to find familiar pale blue eyes glancing at her cautiously.
Ugh, it's just Grouchy Luci, she realised glumly, flinching, her mouth turning into a frown.
She turned her chin up in the opposite direction as Arthur stood silently on her right. Her arms were folded around her chest, loathing and anger reverberating in waves from her uptight posture.
They've stopped talking since Arthur told her that he's going to sue her for custody. In fact, they've stopped everything and ignored each other since that Friday when he dropped the bomb.
Well, if you count the specifics, Victory has been doing the ignoring part while Arthur is his usual brooding self.&nb

"We would like to call upon our next witness, Your Honor, Dr. Desmond Green." Harvey stood in the middle of the well and announced with aplomb, his arms opening wide like a maestro. There was a smug look on his face as his hazel eyes peered towards the opposing counsel. Victory's head whipped in surprise, her heart beating in dismay as her brain registered the familiar name. Her eyes turned to the witness box and she saw the stocky figure of Dr. Desmond, the psychiatrist who was treating her for PTSD a year and a half ago. "I have a proposition for you." I announced coolly as I sat next to her, gazing at her sullen face expectantly. We had completed the first round of custody hearing this morning and it broke my heart to see her being roasted by Harvey. And tomorrow's session will not get any easier on her. The next day, I woke up to day two of the custody hearing. Like the opening scene in a typical Disney fairytale movie, the day started as a beautiful morning, the sun shining brilliantly against the bright blue sky, white tufted clouds floating above and birds flying in the horizon. Astark contrast to the dark ominous feeling that I have in my heart. I am closer to getting what I want and yet nothing is turning the way that I want it to be. When my car pulled up outside the U. S. Supreme Court building earlier this morning, I wasn't surprised to find a swarm of paparazzi waiting like sharks smelling blood on the stone steps of the courthouse. "Liana!" Adrian called out excitedly to the petite, dark-haired girl who was standing next to Arthur as he bounded down the steps with open arms. "It's been a year since I've last seen you! Now tell me, how are Leo and Luca?" Liana hugged Adrian warmly, a huge grin forming on her face. "Hello, cousin." She said as Adrian kissed her cheeks on both sides. "Both Leo and Luca are doing great and they are planning to come and visit you soon. Sometime during the next term break, I think." Liana looped her arm into Adrian's elbow and walked up the steps into the Knights mansion, leaving Arthur behind. After the much-publicised custody hearing, either by luck or by choice, Arthur and Victory had successfully avoided bumping into each other. This is an accomplishment by itself, considering the both of them are still working on the same floor and in the same company. However, be it as it may, time is running out and soon enough it is going to play catch up with the two estranged lovers. This morning, the managers and team leaders at A. K. Media are gathered for a meeting to discuss strategies to achieving the firm's targets for the fourth quarter of the year. By the time Victory arrived outside the meeting room, Arthur was already seated at his usual spot. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Victory enter the room with David, her assistant in tow. Her head was bowed down low and without looking at anyone, she had chosen to sit as far away as possible from him, at the other end of the table. Perhaps wanting to put as much distance as she can between them.

After some consideration, Victory agreed to Arthur's counter proposal. One date is definitely too short for her to make the decision whether she wants to move in with Arthur or not. There's a saying that goes, good things happen in threes. And Arthur now has three chances to make her fall in love with him. He'd better make those dates count. "Come with me to the new apartment," Arthur coaxed over the phone. His interior designer, Samantha, is coming to check out the new apartment this afternoon and Arthur wanted me to be there. Well, what he wanted is my input, hoping that if the apartment is decorated to include my tastes, perhaps I would be more inclined to moving in with him. Me living with Arthur? Been there, done that.
