"I have a proposition for you." I announced coolly as I sat next to her, gazing at her sullen face expectantly.
We had completed the first round of custody hearing this morning and it broke my heart to see her being roasted by Harvey. And tomorrow's session will not get any easier on her. Harvey is a winner, he will not hesitate to pull all the stops just to win this case.
It saddened me that I wasn't aware that she was experiencing severe anxiety and nightmares after the miscarriage. I wished she'd just told me about the nightmares. All the signs were there I suppose, but I refused to acknowledge them for what they are. Instead I reasoned them as wedding jitters. I was too caught up with everything that I failed to support her at a time when she needed me the most.
"Huh?!" Victory's head whipped towards me in surprise. Her brilliant green eyes narrowing at me suspiciously.
"Na'ah." She shook her head in dissent, causing her shin

The next day, I woke up to day two of the custody hearing. Like the opening scene in a typical Disney fairytale movie, the day started as a beautiful morning, the sun shining brilliantly against the bright blue sky, white tufted clouds floating above and birds flying in the horizon. Astark contrast to the dark ominous feeling that I have in my heart. I am closer to getting what I want and yet nothing is turning the way that I want it to be. When my car pulled up outside the U. S. Supreme Court building earlier this morning, I wasn't surprised to find a swarm of paparazzi waiting like sharks smelling blood on the stone steps of the courthouse. Their heads bobbing around like corks in smooth water, eyes flicking wildly from car to car. Anticipation building at every car that stopped in front of the courthouse, their cameras swinging recklessly, fervid to capture a shot of the estranged couple that is currently caught up ina bitter custody battle.
"Liana!" Adrian called out excitedly to the petite, dark-haired girl who was standing next to Arthur as he bounded down the steps with open arms. "It's been a year since I've last seen you! Now tell me, how are Leo and Luca?" Liana hugged Adrian warmly, a huge grin forming on her face. "Hello, cousin." She said as Adrian kissed her cheeks on both sides. "Both Leo and Luca are doing great and they are planning to come and visit you soon. Sometime during the next term break, I think." Liana looped her arm into Adrian's elbow and walked up the steps into the Knights mansion, leaving Arthur behind. Arthur shook his head at their retreating figures, both oblivious that they've left him behind. Liana is the youngest of the Ricci siblings. While Leo, short for Leonardo and Luca are identical twins, the same age as Adrian. Abigail's younger sister, Amber Knight had married an Italian, Luigi Ricci and chosen to live in Rome, Italy
After the much-publicised custody hearing, either by luck or by choice, Arthur and Victory had successfully avoided bumping into each other. This is an accomplishment by itself, considering the both of them are still working on the same floor and in the same company. However, be it as it may, time is running out and soon enough it is going to play catch up with the two estranged lovers. This morning, the managers and team leaders at A. K. Media are gathered for a meeting to discuss strategies to achieving the firm's targets for the fourth quarter of the year. By the time Victory arrived outside the meeting room, Arthur was already seated at his usual spot. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Victory enter the room with David, her assistant in tow. Her head was bowed down low and without looking at anyone, she had chosen to sit as far away as possible from him, at the other end of the table. Perhaps wanting to put as much distance as she can between them.
After some consideration, Victory agreed to Arthur's counter proposal. One date is definitely too short for her to make the decision whether she wants to move in with Arthur or not. There's a saying that goes, good things happen in threes. And Arthur now has three chances to make her fall in love with him. He'd better make those dates count. Aww, Arthur Knight has fallen head over heels in love and he is fighting for some real estate in Victory Sinclair's heart. Will the fallen Knight succeed in his quest? Be careful, Arthur. They say, once bitten, twice shy. But thrice, it's shame on you. Are you certain you want to go down that road with the same billionaire heiress? A few days later, Arthur finally asked Victory out for their first date. When Victory wanted to know where he was taking her,Arthur had cryptically told for her to dress formally and he will be picking her up by 6.30 pm on Saturday. In retrospect, perhaps
"Come with me to the new apartment," Arthur coaxed over the phone. His interior designer, Samantha, is coming to check out the new apartment this afternoon and Arthur wanted me to be there. Well, what he wanted is my input, hoping that if the apartment is decorated to include my tastes, perhaps I would be more inclined to moving in with him. Me living with Arthur? Been there, done that. I am still reluctant to agree to his proposal. Based on our previous experience, jumping head first into a new attachment did not really work well for us. So this time, we're taking it slow. Like real slow. Just last weekend we had our first date. Imagine being engaged for several months and almost getting married but we have not even dated each other? So weird, but true. No wonder I ran away from the wedding. Last Saturday was our first date and it turned out pretty amazing. I snoozed for the first half, I mean Beethoven
I hesitantly gazed into Arthur's pale blue eyes. My heart was thumping wildly, my eyes wide with apprehension. My orbs roamed across his face, traversing from his smooth forehead, along the sharp angle of his nose, down his pink plump lips, freshly shaven chin and chiselled jawline. Is he asking what I think he's asking? I wondered. My head was spinning, it seems that once again we're going too fast, like a high-speed train spiralling out of control, going off the tracks, Arthur is the driver while I am the unwilling passenger. My brain was screaming at me, get off! This is happening way too fast. He must have noticed my panicked reaction because a second later, he sighed resignedly. "It's okay if you're not ready." He murmured, letting go of my hand. In a heartbeat, things turned from hopeful to hopeless. "What?" I responded in surprise. I licked my dry lips nervously. I gulped. I felt like I was s
"Would you like to go to the AIDS Foundation charity auction and gala dinner as my date?" Arthur suddenly asked. Victory looked up in surprise, her fingers suspended above her tablet as she turned her attention to the attractive CEO seated behind the desk. They were in his office, finalising some of the details for A. K. Media's Halloween Party which is going to be held in two weeks' time. Victory and her team had shortlisted the venue, theme, guest list and she was there to run them through with Arthur. Despite enjoying the perks of sleeping with the boss, it's prudent to remember her place at the office. Besides, Victory didn't want anyone to know of their relationship just yet. "Can you waltz, Vic?" Arthur continued to ask. This time a mischievous twinkle glinted in his eyes as his lips morphed into a lopsided smile. In their first date, Victory snored loudly during Joshua Bell's performance. And now,Arthur decided that
I gazedat Victory's sleeping form lying next to me, my eyes roaming over her restful face, the steady rise and fall of her chest and pulled her close.I gave a quick peck on her temples before I lay myself down beside her. I could get used to this. Having her next to me, on my bed. Inhaling her scent of lavender and vanilla, basking in the warmth of her body, the softness of her curves moulding perfectly with my larger frame. I watched in adoration at the way her mouth parted when she sleeps, a soft snore escaping those pink plump lips. My eyes drifted and slowly sleep overtook me. Two hours later, a huge commotion roughly pulled me away from my slumber. I heard Victory shouting, "No!" at the top of her lungs and my body automatically bolted upright, my heart thumping wildly, my eyes wide as my sluggish brain tried to keep up, trying to piece things together and identify what was happening. Where is she?
