48. Judge Judy’s Verdict

The next day, I woke up to day two of the custody hearing.

Like the opening scene in a typical Disney fairytale movie, the day started as a beautiful morning, the sun shining brilliantly against the bright blue sky, white tufted clouds floating above and birds flying in the horizon. A stark contrast to the dark ominous feeling that I have in my heart. I am closer to getting what I want and yet nothing is turning the way that I want it to be.

When my car pulled up outside the U. S. Supreme Court building earlier this morning, I wasn't surprised to find a swarm of paparazzi waiting like sharks smelling blood on the stone steps of the courthouse. Their heads bobbing around like corks in smooth water, eyes flicking wildly from car to car. Anticipation building at every car that stopped in front of the courthouse, their cameras swinging recklessly, fervid to capture a shot of the estranged couple that is currently caught up in a bitter custody battle.
