Angel of Death

I felt a hand grab my wrist and pulled me out of that stream where my room was supposed to be located. Everything looks different now from what it was earlier. All I did was get out of my room to take a leak. But everything turns upside down because instead of my world, I am now on a different side of it.

"Careful! That stream is too deep. You can drown there if you fall." Said the voice I can recognize anywhere.

"Angel?" I asked even though I already know that it's him.

"Who else will save you from the other side?" Angel replied with a question.

He's smiling at me as if nothing happened to us before. I know that I was wrong for just ignoring him after I saw his true face. It's been a long time since we talked to each other and I feel awkward. Especially now that he's using his handsome face around my soul.

I feel uncomfortable and scared to be out of my body. But I thought that I might just be dreaming about all of this. I will be waking up sooner or later and everything will go back to normal. At least to my definition of normal since doing astral projection doesn't sound that way. But at least I will be inside my body.

"Why am I here?" I asked, trying to change the mood around us.

"Maybe it's because you have been suppressing your ability to see the other side, it kind of forces you out of your body," Angel replied.

I can't believe that he just said that! He never explained things to me before. When we're still close, he never does that. I realized that maybe it's because we are on the same dimension now. Around here, I'm the ghost, not them and it's bothering me a little.

"I need to go back to my body!" I feel so frustrated about what's happening.

"I'm sorry, Mary. I can't help you with that. You're the only one who can do it." Angel sadly replied.

He seems to feel bad whenever he can't do anything to help me. Plus, he's too polite to be a demon. But maybe it was just my depiction of them that they should be evil. Now that I'm already in their world, I don't have a choice but to talk to them. Especially with Angel since he can help me somehow.

"Why do you always have to be nice to me? I've been ignoring you for years!" I asked, feeling guilty about it.

"Because I'm an angel!" He replied.

"Angel is just the name I have given you!" I said, feeling irritated.

"No, Mary. I'm a real angel. The name was just a coincidence." He responded with a smile.

I looked at him to see if he's trying to prank me. But then, he looks like he's not lying about it.

"Mary, look at those winged creatures from that side! Those are the demons who work for the devil himself!" Angel whispered.

I looked in that direction and saw the demons he was talking about. They look like the angels from what other people have described. White clothes, a halo, and a pair of wings. But then I saw them attacking another creature. Their eyes are red as hellfire. They are the demons!

"Oh my God! I exclaimed.

" See what I mean? Those are what the demons look like!" Angel proudly declared.

"Okay, I get your point now. Can we go far from them?" I grabbed his hand and started walking.

Angel is not a demon but a real angel! So it means that everything about the angel and devil thing was a lie. The problem is, I'm not the only one who thought that the angels are the ones with wings and pretty faces. Almost everyone in the mortal world has the same belief. That's why I thought that Angel is evil!

My guilt is bothering me more now that I realized that I wronged my best friend. He was always there for me since high school. Even long before that and after I decided to ignore him. He keeps me safe from harm and I abandoned our friendship just like that.

"Angel, I'm sorry about what I did to you." I finally mustered the courage to tell him.

"Don't be! You're human after all. It's only natural to fear the unknown." He replied as if it was just nothing to him.

"But still, I judged you when I should have just trusted you and remained a friend." I just needed to get that out of my chest.

"Aren't you even curious why you have a guardian angel that you can see?" He asked with a wide smile.

That made me think...After all these years, Angel is with me. Even when I thought he was a demon, he still never left my side. The question is, why is he guarding me? I want to ask about it but I'm scared to know the answer at the same time.

"I can see the other side, that's why!" I tried brushing off my curiosity.

"Good answer! It's a secret anyway so I can't tell you about it." He replied.

That sucks! He just made me curious about the reason why he clings to me. Then he just told me that it's a secret. At least now I don't feel awkward anymore. Angel made me feel at ease with him again. He's still my best friend after all since I don't have any human friends, to begin with.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going and where are you taking her?" asked a guy who just came from nowhere.

We both stopped walking and it feels like it's not because we want to. I'm very sure that this guy has something to do with it. I almost forgot I'm on the other side. It means that whoever I see here is not human.

"It's none of your business, vampire!" Angel's tone doesn't sound like him.

"Angel, let's just go!" I said, realizing that he's a vampire.

"Angel? Hah! It's more like an angel of death!" The vampire said and laughed hard.
