“Come, sit beside me dear” Uncle Dimitri said softly. Sitting on the couch and tapping the spot by his side. Hesitating for a second, I walked to his side and sat down by his side where his had was a few seconds earlier and he smiled. His eyes were gentle as he looked at me. He took my hand in his and squeezed it softly.

“You know, Mia got pregnant a few months before she was pregnant with Nikolay” Uncle Dimitri said gently. His eyes staying on mine as he spoke, his thumb softly running over my finger “she lost the child a month after we found out about him. She was just as broken as you are now. If not more…”

“Need I ask why you’re telling me this?” I asked wanting to remove my hand from Uncle Dimitri’s but Uncle Dimitri tightened his grip on it, though he made sure not to hurt me. I raised an eyebrow at him and he smiled.
