Chapter 35: Owe the world

“Hey Aiden? I like you.”

“Yes, Miles, I know. You’ve told me like a hundred times.”

“I know, but it feels so good to finally say it!” Miles threw his arms up. “I feel like I’ve been forgiven for all of my sins!”

“Ha! Like that’ll ever happen,” Ryder cackled from behind him. Miles shot him a glare over his shoulder.

“Remind me, Aiden, where are we going?” Zane spoke up.

They had been following Aiden past the edge of town and into the forest for at least thirty minutes. Wyatt was practically hanging from Zane’s shoulders like a cape at this point, too tired to walk anymore.

“You’ll recognize it soon enough,” Aiden answered confidently. The group finally found a path, and sighed in relief when they no longer had to trudge through itchy undergrowth.

Miles took up Aiden’s hand again and leaned into his ear.

“Hey Aiden?”

“Let me guess, you like me?”

“No, I was gonna say your hair looks pretty today.”
