Chapter 85: Day 50 (day)

Despite her best efforts, Yoanna’s body flinched every time dirt left the hand of a mourner and landed upon the dark wood of May’s casket with a thud and a trickling sound as it slid off the highly polished, sloped surface.

After nearly two week of arrangements that had involved getting finicky locals to pull their panties out of their asses at the thought of handling the remains of werewolves, and far too many funerals, a part of her felt immune to the whole process but this was the part that always seemed to affect her the most and she wasn’t entirely sure why.

May’s body was the last to be buried. The last service dryer than the dirt waiting to fill the grave once everyone was out of sight was over. The mourners; the few remaining from the pack as well as people from the area that had known them, were walking away. Their pace was slow and reverent at first, their bodies held stiff within their formal clothing as though they weren’t sure
