Chapter 9: Liam Spencer

I'm not sure why I'm still thinking about what I saw in the car earlier. It keeps on playing over and over in my head.

"Shoo," I said, shaking my head and gently patting it using one of my hands to clear my mind on everything that had happened.

I've just shifted my attention to the hot chocolate drink I'm holding; it feels nice to have something warm on my hands.

I was so cold that I had to wrap myself in blankets.

I'm feeling better now, but I hope I won't get sick tomorrow. It's irritating that the reason behind all of this is that stupid little dress— I mean, you know— it's beautiful, but it's not good for my health.

He knows that it's so cold in here, why did he even send me that kind of dress?

I swear I'll put on a long one tomorrow.

My expression abruptly altered when I realized I'd be seeing that jerk again.

Well, it is also my payday so I will just go and see him tomorrow, then cut off whatever relationship we have.

Do we even have a relationship though?

"Are you gonna drink that hot choco or what?" I turned my attention to Trina. "So... Can you start telling me the whole story?"

I took a deep breath before starting "Okay so, it's just literally like this. The girl took a walk, and then she saw the man who fought with his girlfriend, and then the man was left there by his girlfriend, the man was hurt and sat next to the girl and then they talked, then there was a deal that the boy will pay a lot of money to the girl for a job and then the girl agrees right away and they got married. After signing the marriage contract and a marriage license, the boy said that the girl had to go to his wedding, the girl asked if it would be theirs but no it's not. The girl was shocked but still went to the wedding, a lot happened especially in the car but it was private and I can't tell. Tomorrow the girl will come back to see the man to sign the annulment and take a large sum that the boy promised to pay the girl." I caught my breath after my long and chaotic story.

Trina's eyebrows gradually dropped and they met each other. She just stared at me and it was obvious that she was still processing everything I said to her.

"Understandable reaction, even I can't digest everything that happened in just one night and a day. But Trina listens, I am going to take a lot of money here, you know my dream right?"

"Wait a minute, did you get married for money?" She couldn't believe it.

"Clarification, I didn't know that the job offer he was saying was going to get married. I couldn't do anything when I was stuck in the situation, and besides, you know how much more money I need to spend here in Denmark, right?" I tried to give her a pleading look.

"Can you at least tell me the name of this guy? and stop trying to make me believe that his name is Key Zayn." I wanted to laugh because of the tone of Trina's voice, but there was still anger building in my chest.

"Liam."

She looked at me before she stood up and started walking towards her bag. She opened it and took something inside.

I was surprised when she took out her laptop from it.

"Liam what?" Trina raised an eyebrow at me before she sat down again and opened her laptop.

"Spencer. Liam Spencer."

"Ok, I will try to background check Liam just to be sure that he's not some sort of a drug pusher." I looked at her.

"Right." I raised my hand and pointed a finger as if I had thought of something.

"Right what?"

"I said the same thing, and he said I always mention drugs." I pout.

"Tell him we're just being careful, It's not easy to fall in love with drug addicts, Crystal," she said.

"Like Ra.fa.el?"

She stared at me and refocused her attention on the laptop. Ever since we got here, I have never heard again about what happened to them, and why she is here in Denmark with me.

"Li... am... Spen... cer..." She said aloud as she typed on her laptop.

"Oh... My... GOD!" We both squealed at what we saw.

"Click that article right there." I quickly commanded her, and Trina proceeded to read the article.

"Ok so, Liam Spencer is known as the son of the richest and the most popular man in the business, Frank Spencer. He is the successor and the one who will inherit their long-lasting legacy. Their family-owned Denmark's biggest corporations, and are known for leading the industry of power, energy, winery, oil, and a lot more. They manage a lot of businesses and partnerships around the world, more than people could ever imagine. All of them comprise a large population in high society, which made Spencers the wealthiest and the most powerful.

The people look up to the Spencers and constantly monitor their lives. Every move they make will be filmed and judged by people. The news about them spreads faster than light, so it's necessary that any movement they make is clean, and there must be no holes that can be used against their family. For the Spencers, family is business. They think that it's just the same thing. No one can really tell if there's love inside their huge house, but if there will be complications, they have no choice but to stick together."

"That article is lit." I am stunned at everything that has been written on it.

"And really long," Trina said as she continued to catch her breath. "Are you sure this is the Liam Spencer we're talking about?

"Let's take a look at the images." I also clicked on the laptop because I suddenly became interested if he really was it.

"Oooh, he's hot," she muttered under her breath.

"Is he?" For me, Sybil is hotter, though he left me at the wedding without even saying goodbye.

"I heard you said earlier that his girlfriend left him, right?"

I nodded.

"So... Can I meet him?" her eyes widened as she told me eagerly.

"Don't expect anything else, Trina, they're back together. And what about-" I fell silent again.

"Well then, I'll just search for his girlfriend. What's her name?" I was distracted by Trina.

"Uh... Maddison." She just stared at me as if waiting. "I don't know her last name." she didn't speak and just put her hands back on the laptop to start typing.

"Li... am... 's... girl... fr...iend." My forehead furrowed and the outflow of air into my nose accelerated.

"Liam... And... Maddison... Ugh! Why is nothing coming out?" Trina said with mixed annoyance but still didn't take her eyes off the laptop and she continued to scroll through it.

"The public might not know about her," I said, which made her stop scrolling. Trina shifted her gaze to me as she raised one eyebrow. "And why did you come up with that idea?"

"Well, is he gonna marry some stranger to use into his goddamn plan if the public knows that he already has a girlfriend? Of course, they will suspect him. But since they didn't, I'm guessing they don't know about her." No one even wondered why Liam married me, if they knew Maddison they would question his decision.

I think those two are keeping their relationship a secret.

Trina pulled away from her laptop and faced me. Her eyes were straight into mine. "Crystal, I know what to do."

"What do you mean?" I asked her perplexedly.

"Let me go with you tomorrow."

My eyebrows met quickly because I couldn't understand what Trina was saying.

"I don't know if he will allow me to bring someone with me." He didn't tell me what I needed to do tomorrow, apart from saying that we would sign the annulment papers.

"Then don't tell him," Trina says as she picks up her laptop again and starts to shut it down.

"What are you up to?" I'm puzzled.

"Don't worry, you're gonna love it!" She stood up holding her laptop and walked towards her bag. "Just sleep tonight and it will be a long day for us tomorrow," she added. That buffered me even more, she already put her laptop inside the bag.

"Okay... Good night Trina," she answered me with a smile.

I began to adjust myself on the bed and placed the blanket over my body.

I just hope that something good will finally happen tomorrow.
