Chapter 10: Declaring War

"Is this really how we will spend your last day here in Denmark?"

The two of us are standing in front of the mirror here inside the hotel room. Trina was looking at me but I know that she's not paying attention, she was just looking at me from head to toe.

I just rolled my eyes at her because of annoyance.

I know I promised myself that I would wear long clothes today, but look at what I'm wearing now.

A red short rompers. If the wind passes by me, the cool breeze of the air can be felt inside because it's really flowy. Its cut on the chest will definitely cause coughs and colds, fortunately, my long hair is just styled down.

"It's perfect" Trina suddenly speak when she finished staring at me. "you look hot in my rompers."

This is what Trina likes to wear, short dresses that people might think that she's just wearing a little fabric. But it's her thing and she's comfortable in it, what about me?

"I can't go out like this, it's so cold outside." I pulled the lower end of the garment down.

Trina looked at me with her eyebrows raised to the sky again. "This is the key point of my plan. Just listen to me, okay? Plus, you look nice in that outfit. You look way better Crystal, your healthy skin is highlighted as well as your long limbs and neck- Wait, I forgot something." She ran to her suitcase and immediately opened it to get something inside.

When I saw what just Trina took out, I strongly closed my eyes.

She walked quickly towards me. "Here's the shoe you'll use to partner with that romper."

"Fuck." I can't help but to cussed at what I am seeing now. "Is it my birthday today?"

I'm already wearing red, and now she wants me to wear it with red shoes?

I can't deny that this shoe is simply beautiful, the heel is a bit high and it has two straps, one for the ankle and the toe.

Trina handed me the shoe again so I reached out my hand to accept it.

"Are... you... sure?" Why am I wearing this? I can be seen from afar even if their eyes are blurred.

"Hurry and put that on so we can leave." Liam texted me earlier that someone would pick me up again from outside the hotel, I hope he at least told me what color the car was so that I wouldn't be embarrassed again.

I started to put on the shoes and looked at myself again in the mirror, it looks nice to me but I wasn't really comfortable, and what would people think that I dressed like this even though it was cold here in their place.

I just shrugged my shoulders.

I picked up the bag that Trina lent me, it's a small handbag that as if it only fits candy.

"Can you tell me what your plan is? Why is it that all the people with plans don't even bother to tell me? I mean... It's okay if the plan doesn't include me, but it is!" I whined inside the car.

"Just do what you have to do Crystal, be beautiful in his eyes and even more... seduce him." she turned to me and looked straight into my eyes. "When you successfully made him fell in love with you, do you know that you can't just get a lot of money? We can also live and stay in this country without thinking about the hard cash or the currency and just live a prosperous life here in Denmark like you always dream of," she said in a low tone so she won't be heard by the driver.

I couldn't answer, there is a part of my heart that says she is right and I should follow my dreams, but on the other hand, says it is wrong to do that.

"I'm not going home to New Jersey to help you."

My eyes widened at what I heard.

"Trina, what are you thinking, it's already a big help that he will pay me. I don't need that crazy and scary man anymore.." my voice sounds denial that even I can't believe it. I shifted my gaze outside the window.

I can feel my heart beating fast as if it is going crazy because it really wants something but I am just holding it back, it seems like there is a battle inside my chest. A battle between the right and the wrong.

"I thought you had a dream Crystal?" I was stunned by what Trina said, and I looked back at her again.

"You're so close to your dream, now that the door has opened straight to your lofty dream, will you still turn away?"

I thought more deeply because of what she said, it was as if all my hardships in the country I came from and how much I wanted to achieve my dream flashed back.

"Uh... What... do you mean..?" I knew in myself that I clearly understood what she wanted to convey, but I just needed to hear it one last time and be able to think.

"If that man falls in love with you, then your annulment may not continue. He is damn rich Crystal, that man was raised on money. Do you know what will you get in return when you stay married to him? You might also have the shares in whatever he inherits. Forget about the true love, we are talking about your dreams here."

I was stunned by what she has in her mind.

"I-I don't think I can do that T-Trina..." I looked away again.

"I know you'll do everything for your long-term dreams, Crystal."

I never spoke again in the car, I don't know why my heart is throbbing so fast again. My hands and knees also began to tremble and my fingers are restless.

I'm sure it wasn't because of the cold, it was like something was building up in my throat causing tears in my eyes that I kept holding back.

I just looked out of the car again for the whole trip and never spoke again, so did Trina. She seemed to be deep in thought.

"We're here, Ms. Crystal." My soul returned to my body as the driver of the car we were riding in spoke.

"Thank you." we started to get out of the car. I just stood in front of the door and waited for Trina to turn around from the other side.

"Remember everything I told you, opportunities like this don't happen again in our lives Crystal. Just think of what can happen if you succeed." little by little Trina convinced me.

But I can't cheat people, and even though that man was a little mean, I can feel that he's still a good person. That's why I think fooling him is something that might hurt my heart.

"Let's go inside ..." I said softly to Trina just enough for her to hear me.

"You don't need to have feelings with that man, you just need to stay married to him." I throw a look at her again before starting to walk into a large building.

"Crystal!" I narrowed my eyes to see who was calling to me in the distance.

"Sybil." I smiled at him even though he didn't even drove me home last night, which is not part of his responsibility though. It's not his fault. And one more thing is that I can't bear to be angry with his handsome face.

"You look nice." he looked at what I was wearing.

"Thanks, Sybil, and by the way, this is my friend Trina." I gestured to point Trina beside me.

"Did Spencer tell you to bring someone?" he asked, and I immediately shook my head.

"I didn't tell him," I answered.

"Why is it always forbidden for Crystal to bring someone? Isn't the friend of the woman he married welcome in this building?" Trina raised an eyebrow, and her gaze on Sybil was very sharp. I wonder why is she acting like that.

"Uhm... No! No... N-Not like that. Come, Let me take you to Spencer's office." Sybil guides us on the road.

"Oh my goly Crystal, he's so hot!!!" Trina whispered loud to me.

I knew she was acting weird. I want to raise my palm to my face but let me do that in my mind instead.

"Is that how everyone looks here?" she rolled her eyes inside the building and saw the man who walked on her side.

"It's not."

I just laughed softly because of how mean she is.

When we got in front of a room Sybil opened it for us.

"Spencers and the Judge are already inside." I nodded and was about to go inside with Trina.

"Uh... I don't think you need to come inside either." I was distracted by Sybil not letting Trina in.

"I do what I want." Trina pushed open the door and quickly entered it.

My lips lifted a little because of what she did, even though she's mean, she never failed to made me laugh at her wickedness.

I looked around the room and saw Liam sitting in a chair, the female judge was already there.

When Liam noticed me he was emphatically and softly staring at me from head to toe. He held her lip as one of his arms resting on the side of the chair. He stared at me for a while, especially at what I am wearing, I felt ashamed again so I averted my gaze but I'm still looking at him in my peripheral vision. I saw him still moving his fingers on his lips before he shifted his gaze to Trina.

"Who is she?" he asked that turned my gaze back.

"This is my friend Trina. She came with me tod-"

"Did I say you can bring a companion?" There were again his deep voices that made the hairs of my body stand on end. I just lay my head down so I wouldn't look him in the eye.

"Just- sit down." I looked at Trina who immediately began to sit down, I also pulled out a chair and sit.

"Okay so here are the annulment papers that you two need to sign. Everything has been settled and only signatures are needed since it has been handled by Spencers' lawyer." Her voice is so soft but she sounds like an intelligent person who can beat anyone in a debate.

The woman handed me the papers with a ball pen so that I could start signing. I noticed Trina's looks at me. Everything she said earlier played on my mind again, I think she was right in what she told me.

Before I signed the papers I looked at Liam first to grabbed his attention.

"What?" he said without emotion.

"Liam, It was a pleasure to marry you." I articulated a little what I said before I gave him sweet smiles. I don't know why I'm doing this but, maybe Trina is right that such opportunities don't happen again. His forehead furrowed as if surprised by what I said, it also disappeared and was replaced by his smile.

"And it was a pleasure to be married to you, Crystal Harrison." his eyes were looking straight at me. Suddenly something went missing in my muscles, I could feel the rapid movement of my stomach.

No... I can't do this to him.

I just turned my attention to the papers and signed them.

The woman collected the papers and unified them. "Al... right. Just wait for me here I'll just take it for a moment and seal it." she smiled before leaving the room.

I can sense Trina's glare but I'm trying to ignore it.

"So... here is the money we agreed on." Liam pushed a check from the table. I looked at it first, I saw 1522065.01 DKK written on the paper, maybe it was exactly what we agreed when converted to USD.

I looked at Trina before accepting the money. I have already signed the papers and we can't do anything. When it is sealed, then I am now legally annulled to Liam, Trina looks at me with such annoyance.

"Liam you need to see this." We were surprised when the door suddenly opened, the female judge entered in a hurry.

I wondered at the woman was talking about as she immediately picked up the remote and turned on the T.V. It showed a woman crying on News TV.

"I- I didn't expect that the man I l-love so much would b-betray me. I thought I had found the real one, because in our life in high society it's not easy to find the honest ones, your t-true love. But I was still deceived... " she is sobbing. "Liam Spencer, h-how did you do this to me." She cried even more.

My eyebrows furrowed as I remembered where I had seen the woman.

Right, she's the one Liam fought in that office-like room.

My eyes shifted to Liam as he suddenly stood up.

"What does Eureka think she's doing?" said the female judge.

"Declaring war."

My hair stood on the end of Liam's voice.
