More Trouble.

BILLIONAIRE CEO’S SECRET LOVER: THE MYSTERY BEHIND MALCOLM KNIGHT’S DIVORCE.

Malcolm stared at the newspaper headline his blue eyes almost turning white in anger. The picture attached was when the stupid waitress at the five-star hotel where he had attended the investors meeting, had bumped into him, spilling drinks on his favourite shirt. He scoffed. The photographer must be an A-list. He made it look like they were cuddling each other with her face hidden.

“Which Press company started this?” he asked, his boiling anger was enough to bring down an entire building.

“We tried to investigate it but they seem very meticulous and hid very well.” Alex replied.

Malcolm scoffed. The last time he made the headline was after his wife absconded without a proper divorce but he had taken care of the news back then and made the press company that started the news go extinct in two days. Whoever started this rumour was going to be buried alive the minute he lays hand on him.

“And the girl?” He questioned again.

“She is from the Byrne family, sir. The Byrne family has only one daughter that goes by the name Michelle Byrne.”

Malcolm nodded his head repeatedly. Perhaps, instead of making the entire country a victim this time, it was best to make the victim the only victim. “Prepare the car.”

With that, he dialled a number and placed the phone on his ear while Alex quietly exited to carry out his orders.

Warren Byrne looked worn down as he entered his car. He had just had another unsuccessful meeting with Blue Star investors. Byrne Inc. was on the verge of shutting down and nobody was willing to help him. It was his fault. He dared not blame anyone else; not even the careless workers he had. He had signed a contract with Blue Star three years ago to roof a building and in a minute of carelessness, he had let his assistant handle the job only for the roof to collapse six months later, injuring many people and killing a few. That had been the worst year of his life. It had been one lawsuit after another, one compensation after another and in the very end, Byrne Inc. lost its name and reputation. Nobody wanted to have anything to do with them. The Byrne family became blacklisted in the society, known for using fake materials. It had taken only one moth for him to fall from grace. The board of directors voted him out of the CEO seat and threatened to declare bankruptcy and probably sell off the company if he didn’t come up with a solution soon. Now here he was pleading with Blue Star to help him regain his reputation by declaring to the public that the fallen roof had no connections with the builders. Even when he had known their egotistic CEO would turn him down, his conscience wouldn’t let him rest till he made the request and of course in the end, he was turned down.

He started the car and drove off, resolving to go home and probably get some sleep. Never had he felt so hopeless in his entire life. Even his wife’s family wouldn’t help him! Warren was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn’t notice the car trailing him. He wasn’t wealthy anymore so he felt it was impossible for him to be a person’s target. Suddenly, the car overtook him and intersected his car jolting him out of his reverie. Quickly, he stepped on the brakes bringing the car to a quick stop just before he hit the car in front of him.

With an accelerating heart and fuming temper, he unlocked his seat belt and stepped out of the car, “Are you mad? Don’t you know how to drive?”

Whether it was the anger of his failed meeting or the anger of nearly been involved in another catastrophe that overcame him, he just couldn’t explain it. He stood, waiting for the driver of the other car to come out and probably offer an apology but it didn’t happen. This enraged him more and just when he was about to walk up to the car and yank the door open, the backdoor opened and a man donned in a quite expensive black suit walked out.

“Hello, Mr. Byrne.” He greeted calmly.

Warren studied him for a minute. This face. Why did it look so much familiar?

“I demand an explanation for this rubbish!” Even Warren himself was surprised at his outburst. Ever since his family’s downfall, his temper had become execrable.

“I have an order to bring you somewhere. My boss wishes to speak to you.” The stranger continued unperturbed by his outburst.

Warren snarled, “Over my dead body. Your boss can speak to my ass for all I care!”

The stranger smiled, “If I were you, Mr. Byrne, I’d take back my words.”

Warren scoffed.

Just then, two hefty men dressed in black alighted from the front seat of the vehicle.

“You will either come with me willingly, or we’ll do it the other way.”

Warren looked at the three men. If it were three years ago when the Byrne family could still afford their own guards, he would have not been so intimidated but that moment, he knew shoving him into the car would not even take a quarter of the men’s strength.

“Fine!” he said in defeat, “I’ll come with you.”

  “Good choice, Mr. Byrne.”

One of the men entered his car and took over the wheel while Warren sat beside him, wondering where they were heading to. Minutes later, the car came to a stop in front of a Chinese restaurant. They all alighted and the two hefty men positioned themselves behind him. Like seriously?!

“This way, please.” The familiar guy spoke up and nodding, he followed quietly like a lamb being led to a slaughter house. The restaurant had a serene atmosphere. After all, not everybody could afford a meal in a place like this. They walked on until they came to a private room. Knocking politely, the man opened the door and walked in. Warren followed suit while the two men closed the door, standing guard by the door. Judging by the room décor, it was a private room. He watched the man walk up to a figure standing by the window with his back to him.

“What do you want from me?” Warren questioned, unable to hold his patience anymore. The figure remained unmoving like Warren wasn’t even talking to him.

“Please have a seat, Mr. Byrne.” The man who had led him in said.

Warren was peeved. This was preposterous! Absurd! How dare someone treat him like air. If it were years ago, he would have chopped off that person’s head. The only people who had the authority to treat him like that were few and he wasn’t going to let anyone else do that to him just because of his fallen status.

Taking a deep breath to put a rein in his anger, he pulled out a chair and sat down. “If this is some sought of a kidnap, then I must tell you it is a total waste of time. Is it money you want? Or did those old shags from the Board send you?”

The only people who Warren could think dared to do this was the members of his board of directors. After all, they wanted to pressure him to sell of the company—his family heritance.

After a long second of hovering silence, a chuckle came from the figure by the window, “You think so highly of yourself, Warren Byrne. What makes you think I am after your money? Moreover, if I really need your money, I don’t need to waste a breath to do it.” He turned gradually to face the fuming man, “Don’t you think so?”

Warren froze. He immediately regretted saying those words earlier. He regretted letting his frustrations get the best of him? Now, all thanks to his lousy mouth, his death has been sealed and signed.

Goddamnit!
