Chapter 14

The streets were busy with the citizens of Criker. Merchants on the sides were busy with haggling customers, their voices mingling with the wide array of others. High in the sky the sun shone brightly, casting warmth onto the frigid city. People moving around helped to warm up the streets with the occasional fire pit outside a business shop.

Cressa bundled in her cloak as she made her way through the city. She had a vague idea of where to go based off of what she heard the guards gossiping about in the castle. Reports came in from scattered spies hourly. Most seemed to be fake but she hoped the one she was relying on was true.

It had to be true. The King was needed and she was sick of him taking his sweet time. Zarek needed to kill Tauric so she wouldn’t have to feel his hands on her again. Wouldn’t have to smell him or hear him. If she tried to kill him herself, it would end badly.
