Prologue: A Memory From The Past

It was a cold night at the mansion. There stood a man who was strongly yearning for something from the distant past. He looked over the horizon, gazing at the night sky that enveloped the world with glimmering stars. It was a truly fascinating sight for him. He never got bored of it, no matter what happened.

While gazing upon the night sky, he is deeply reminded of a promise made in the distant past. This promise is significant to him, especially it is somehow related to him, but the reason is unclear as he never said it to anyone. He took a ring out in his pocket and said, "wait for me, I'll definitely fulfill it for you. No matter how long it takes or how hard it is. Your wish is something that should come true."

His eyes are filled with so much passion and determination to keep the said promise to that person. From thinking too much, he fell asleep and dreamed how everything began.

Flashback

It was an afternoon in the garden of one of the most powerful households at that time. A girl was beneath the huge tree while reading a book, humming her favorite song and enjoying the cooling breeze that makes the tree leaves dance. The girl possesses a beauty that others want to have. Hair shiny as the sun, light blue eyes the same as the sky, and skin as smooth as the clouds. Overall, this girl was a perfect woman as she is humble and kind to people despite the status differences.

She was lost in her own world of thoughts which was why she didn't realize a person was coming close to her. She was still humming when she heard someone spoke, "Here you are, I've been looking for you all day." said the person who stood in front of her. She looked up to see who it was, but the sun was bright so she had to cover it with a hand then realized who it was.

"Hey, it's been a while since we saw each other, "Ciel." Where have you been?" said the girl with a smile to the person who came to visit her.

"Nothing really. I had to take care of something, which is why I had to leave for a few weeks. Sorry I didn't tell you," The person said to her as that person sat beside her underneath the tree and leaned on the trunk.

"Hmm, It's okay, although do tell me next time. So at least I'm aware of your location. Don't make me worry like that again, okay?" She said as she squinted her eyes towards that person to make sure that person wouldn't do something like that again.

"All right, all right, will do the next time if I have to go away again. I'll be careful," the person said with a mischievous grin and patted her head to reassure her that everything was okay.

"Hmph, you better do, or else you'll suffer the consequences," she said while playfully puffing her chest to show annoyance.

"All right, I will." the person said while chuckling lightly, then silence fell unto them.

It wasn't awkward or anything, but rather, it was a calming silence between them.

"You remember our promise, right?" The girl asked the person as the breeze continued to hit their faces gently

The person smiled, then looked at her and spoke, "Of course I remember. I won't forget something so important. What about it?"

The girl smiles back at the person, "Nothing really, just wanted to make sure you haven't forgotten it."

The person held her face and said, "I will never forget, okay? I promise"

The girl took the person's hand and said, "That's good, don't ever forget it." She closed her book and stood up while brushing the dust off her clothes. She gazed upon the afternoon sky while she leaned her back up against the huge tree.

The person looked at her curiously, wondering what was the matter with her. "You okay? Is there something bothering you?" Asked the person to her who still sat down underneath the huge tree.

The girl did not answer yet, and the blowing cool breeze's sound was all that the two could hear. There was a long pause before she finally spoke as thoughts filled her mind with many things about the circumstances.

"What do you think will happen to all of us from now on? As much as possible, I would want to avoid conflict with others and especially that person. There's no reason to fight, yet everyone is seeking blood and chaos as if it's normal to them and it won't affect them in any way." She said to "Ciel," eyes were filled with worried and although she tried to sound calm deep inside, she knew if nothing was to be done, the world could be in danger and fall into an abyss, and darkness would dwell for a long period of time. She doesn't want this to happen. All she ever wanted for the world and the ones she loves is to live in a world where everyone is united and no chaos. But the paradise she longs for seemed like a dream and impossible. Like light and darkness, after all, are just 2 sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other. All they can do is try to maintain the balance between the two and prevent chaos from spreading.

"Ciel" gazed upon the sky as well, then took a deep breath first before speaking out their thoughts. "Honestly, I have no idea what is about to come from now on. As they said, we write our future; hence, it can change at any given moment and circumstance. You can never truly understand and trust a person. After all, no matter how much you spend with them, betrayal comes from friends and allies. We don't want conflict, but as long as there are people who strive to cause chaos, peace is something we can never have no matter what we do."

The girl smiled and walked a bit ahead of "Ciel" then said, "You're right. This is why we need to try hard not only for ourselves but also for other people. Not everyone has the courage to do so, after all. We need to."

"That's right, no matter what happens, we'll protect them," "Ciel," said while smiling proud of the girl in front of them.

The girl looked back towards him, "Ciel, you know-"
